Having played the first game many many years ago I'd say that having the aim to build upon the intense coop survival horror experience of the original was definitely ambitious in my opinion. I'm glad I got to experience this game for free because of the free weekend that the devs put out and despite what many people said I actually had plenty of fun playing it. That being said, I do think that it's a promising sequel that just needs more time in the oven. While it does bring some new features and improvements, it also comes with many challenges especially in its early stages.

So No More Room in Hell 2 continues the series tradition of delivering a bleak and immersive zombie apocalypse experience, that much is certain. For starters, the sequel transitions from using the Source engine to Unreal Engine 5 which brings a significant visual upgrade. The environments are much more darker and more atmospheric having improved lighting and textures that really help elevate the horror experience. The game's use of darkness and limited lighting sources like headlamps and brake lights can help create a more tense ambiance since despite there being light you can't tell what's on the other side unless you turn on your flashlight but what's around you is still shrouded in darkness. Another improvement in terms of graphics is in the zombies you kill. As you swing your melee weapon or blast a shotgun, you’ll see zombie limbs get torn off or their heads split or chunks of flesh go flying and if anything it just reminds me of Dead Island 2's FLESH system because you see their bodies degrade as you keep hitting them and it just adds this visceral satisfaction to combat that makes every hit feel impactful and it's especially impactful accompanied by the game's punchy sound effects on each hit.

No More Room in Hell 2 supports up to eight players in one match which emphasizes teamwork and communication in order to complete objectives and survive. That being said, despite the game's cooperative nature you will come across players that always goes on their own. They'll help you sometime like whenever a zombie grabs you they kill it to free you or when a horde appears and everyone bands together to dispatch the horde but once an objective on a certain location is done, they either take some loot for themselves or go on their separate ways and not stick around for the road walk to the next location. It’s not the game’s fault entirely, though.

Another unique feature that the sequel brought to the series is a permadeath system where your character gains random bonuses every five levels but dying resets your progress back to square one and this system feels flawed depending on how you look at it. While the system adds stakes and makes players be more careful on how they plan a match, it also kind of relies on everything else working smoothly and that's not always the case for an Early Access game. There's not any real gear progression tied to a character. So even if they’re high level, it doesn’t mean they’ll spawn in with better stuff, you’re still scavenging the same way every time and dying due to bugs or bad matchmaking or teammates doing dumb stuff sucks a lot since there's no way to manually save or protect a good survivor outside of escaping so you’re always a crash or disconnect away from losing any progression you've made.

One thing I've noticed once I boot up the game and start a match is that there's not a single form of tutorial or guidance whatsoever and look, the game is still in Early Access some things are going to be missing but for a game with a punishing difficulty, any form of guidance would be essential. The game really expects you to figure it out all alone on how to use your inventory and item weight system (which feels clunky at best) or navigate dark and non-linear environments while being chased while also handling objectives that aren’t even marked clearly on the map half the time and it can get frustrating especially for new players such as myself.

So right now, No More Room in Hell 2 only has one map and an objective to loot and extract, and while it’s decently large and well-detailed, it doesn’t offer much in terms of replayability once you’ve played through it a couple times. Objectives are randomized, sure, but the layout, item locations, and events start to feel repetitive fast and once you’ve escaped once or twice, it starts to feel more like a routine than a struggle for survival. But there is definitely some potential, the level design is solid and the atmosphere is on point but the game really needs more maps or dynamic events to keep it fresh. A rotating mission structure or even weather changes would definitely go a long way because right now it's just easy to be burnt out after a few matches.

Overall, No More Room in Hell 2 is a decent enough game with some good concepts and ideas but not really reaching there yet in terms of execution. The dark and gritty atmosphere, punishingly difficult gameplay, permadeath system, are all ambitious especially when it aims to stay true to the original.
Other things like the lack of a tutorial, weird balancing quirks, occasional jank like bugs or glitches or crashes, and the “you’re on your own” design philosophy can make it feel more punishing than fun if you're not already familiar with how it works and it's clear the game just needed more time in the oven. That being said, the foundation is solid. The devs clearly had a vision going on and if they keep building on this with more content, polish, and accessibility, No More Room in Hell 2 could easily become one of the best co-op zombie survival games out there.

Honestly one of the best remasters i've ever played and i highly recommend that you get this because it has all the content from the ME trilogy packed into one game (DLC included). Some differences in this game are pretty cool and there are some changes that i find kind of weird.

ME1: The differences between this and OG Mass Effect are of course the faces are upscaled now and the HUD looks completely different and the rendered cutscenes look a lot better now. The sound of the weapons have also been changed like the pistol sound has a bit of the pistol sound from 2 but if you equip any upgrades it sounds like the one from OG and some cutscenes retain that old weapon sound from the OG. The change that i find weird is that if you want to toggle off your helmet, instead of going to the Equipment menu you have to go the Squad menu but that's just a minor detail but really the change that i find weird is that unlike OG you can sprint whenever you want if you're not in combat and you wont get fatigued, with this it acts like you're in combat regardless if you're in a safe area or not and you get fatigued so i had to download a mod for it which sucks. A big issue that i had with OG is the wonky goofy ahh physics of the Mako and they actually fixed that here and even added an additional mechanic to the game by adding a boost to the Mako which isn't present in the OG and the only game that has a boost mechanic is ME Andromeda so i guess they brought it from that to this game which is really nice.

ME2: There's not much changes with this one other than some visual changes like the faces are more upscaled and the same goes for the cutscenes. Other than that everything is the same apart from scenes where Shepard and the Illusive Man talk to each other and the way Shepard sounds feel off like he's not talking to him through a device from far away but rather sounds like he's talking to him face to face.

ME3: I feel like there's little changes with this one apart from there being no multiplayer because in the original if you want to 100 percent the game you'll need multiplayer. Same thing with ME2 with not much changes to the game apart from some upscaled models and cutscenes.
Overall this game is absolutely fantastic and really fun and i absolutely recommend that you get this regardless if you're new to Mass Effect or if you're a massive fan like me.

Not gonna lie, this game feels like Dorohedoro meets Dark Souls with all the mushrooms and stuff and also the game tends to freeze at anytime so it kills my character whenever i log in again idk it's probably my PC.
