What a journey!

Although having heard a lot about Persona games, I had never played a Persona game or shin megami tensei game before this one.

You know when people ask "what's your favorite game?" Always hard to pin point one, right? There's nostalgia, there's different types of games, there's different experiences in life, etc...
But when someone asks "what are some of your favorite games?"
Now, that's easier! Everybody has an easy list they can just start to spill. And mine now has Persona 4 Golden among the first ones, easily.

The only games in recent memory that got me so invested in them were Yakuza 0 and Witcher 3. That's extremely high praise coming from me.

I bought this game less than 3 weeks ago and I'm standing now at 136 hours, 2 playthroughs and all achievements. And I just about finished downloading the anime. I haven't watched an anime or had any interest in them for more than 15 years.

The atmosphere, the story, the characters, the soundtrack... It's just perfect. You really do care about your friends and what's going on around your character. I won't deny the game has some issues, though. The dungeons are sometimes too long and there are some times that the game takes control away from the player for too much time. But coming up with these two points honestly feels like nitpicking.

This is the RPG that has the most satisfying "role play" I've ever experienced. I'm 29 years old and I wish I could be a teenager in Inaba for a year.

I can't recommend this game highly enough. It truly is worth the hype.

P.S. Yukiko best waifu.

@yakuzamonkey Just got a PS3 and P3 FES. Thought it would be better to play it before P5R. Looking forward to both. Probably gonna emulate Persona Q too. Can't get enough. :)

If you love P4G, you're going to love Persona 5 Royal as your next game. I've played Persona games starting from P3 FES, the original P4, and P5R, and i'm back on P4 Golden myself having never owned a PS Vita before.

@MAjestic12 I just got a borrowed PS3 to play P3FES. I was gonna jump into P5R but felt playing 3 first would be better. After finishing this one nothing quite compares to it man. I've almost started it again after finishing the anime. :)

I felt the same way when I first played the game 7-8 years ago on the PS Vita. I loved it so much I bought it for PC and I'm 3/4 through the game and it's still as good. I encourage you to play Persona 5 - it's why I bought a PS4 and it's just as good but with better game mechanics (the dungeons are far more unique and more interesting). What Persona 4 & 5 does so well, is make you like your friends to the point where you're really emotionally involved and part of a real group. Persona 3 is loved by many as well but I couldn't quite get into it - the characters aren't as interesting to me and the combat is just a primitive version of P4.
