If you're looking for just socializing on VR, Resonite sucks and you can safely ignore it. The performance is bad, full body tracking is absolutely terrible and worst of all; finding, customizing or setting up a fully featured avatar is an absolute chore, even _if_ you know what you're doing. And of course you won't actually know how to do anything without a veteran helping you out every step of the way. Sure, you can try to also follow tutorials, but most of them are outdated by now and as of writing the wiki isn't even available still.

Resonite is a good platform for those that it's for though. It's more so for the Second Life users who want VR, for programmers looking to nerd out about things together, for people who spent more time building in games like Minecraft, Garrys Mod, and Little Big Planet than actually interacting with the rest of the game. It's more of a VR sandbox engine than a social platform. With the controls being very specifically tailored for VR, even with screen mode, the controls are so bad I'd recommend not trying to suffer trough it all and just stick to the aforementioned other games unless you have VR and are deeply interested in being creative.

With all of that, why do I still recommend it? Because there's nothing quite like it. It fulfills a niche that nothing else even gets close to competing in; A sandbox with very deep capabilities to create whatever you want with social aspects also tacked-on. For building things together with others live, I don't think anything can beat it. Remote whiteboards is worse, live programming is worse, even the gold standard Minecraft loses in terms of possibilities. Second Life comes close in capabilities, but doesn't offer proper VR, is outdated with it's technology and doesn't have a business model that clearly aligns with the platform's users.

Resonite however, ticks all the right boxes of being able to be the ultimate social sandbox.
