Take it from the guy who pirated the game the very moment he discovered it (Yes, filthy pirating, I know, I know. But, how is a guy who doesn't work or beg for a credit card from their parents supposed to buy video games, amirite?). I bought the game when I found it on steam after a while, you could see for yourself it happened.

Roughly 52 hours, because for some reason, the save-game from the torrented version stuck with it, not that i'm complaining, I hate losing progress. Now to the actual review:

This game, where do I even start... For one, a sidescrolling sandbox game with what looked like really good gameplay (and it was!) from the gameplay I saw on YouTube when I was a wee lad (No more than 12). This looked like something phenominal, and after getting the game and playing it firsthand, it lived up to my expectations. I feel this game is paced quite well and has it's fair share of challenges for the average players.

Most people refer to Terraria as "2D minecraft!," and I don't disagree. It is very much like it's blocky, 3d counterpart. What seperates the two is how the sense of progression is very noticeable and such progression comes quite slowly if you don't start off well. But the feeling of achievement, it is felt throughout the entire game: from finally defeating that one boss to obtaining more health, more mana, better gear, the sheer upgrades make you feel like you've accomplished something amazing. This game is quite rewarding for the hard work you put into it, and don't discount the game for having poor building mechanics and aesthetical pleasure. I've made some pretty suave bases, I mean hell, this game has more intriguing decoration in the vanilla game. Such is only comparable if you have modded you "Minecraft."

All in all, just buy the game, even if you don't play any other sandbox games. It's worth it (especially when it's on sale).
