Update 23/10/2019:
As of 16/08/2019 all new development was ceased and the game is now on life support. I cannot recommend this game anymore, sadly.
- "All developers have demanding full-time jobs or commitments, Slapshot was a passion project."
- "As time went on, a majority of the active community was getting harder and harder to deal with.. Slapshot was bringing its own stress and issues, it would be too much to continue.."
- "If this had been our full-time job, it'd have been okay, but this was on top of all the other things."

--------------------

Old review before Development Stopped:
I would consider myself a competitive player overall, I've been through games like this some times now, from Soccer to Basket and even Volley type of games that have that same feel, but this game seems different.

- Are the Devs active?
They listen, just a few days after launch we had some server problems and guess what, solved in a day which is pretty nice, they already have matchmaking that covers 3 regions: North America, Europe and Oceania and if you play on your region it's likely that the Ping and Input Delay is very little and close to what you have on "Practice"(which runs Locally)

- The community isn't that Toxic, for now.
Yeah the time I played this game of course there has been some toxic people here and there but not as much as you think there would be, people just have fun and some don't even speak, they just say 'gg' in the end of matches regardless of result.

- Is this a final product or close to it?
Hell nah, but it's a good start, there's a lot of features that the community awaits and I do believe the Devs will deliver which isn't something I expect nowadays but seeing how caring they are towards the game and players I am hopeful the Game will have the updates it needs.

- Is tournaments a thing?
Yes they are, there has been some unofficial tournaments on their Discord, and there will be soon some official ones, no idea about the rewards.

- Is it Pay to Win?
No, and there's no reason to have it like such, the only thing you can buy from the game is Cosmetics/Customization which seems simple therefore you CANNOT buy any advantages. I do think buying the "Full Game" package to support the Devs would be great to push them to le Future.

- Is the playerbase active as of now?
At the moment if you play at 'prime' times of your region, yes, if you just matchmake you'll always have some players to play with, and even at night time you might get lucky, but hopefully the playerbase goes beyond what it is now and gets into a stable number.

- Can I group up with friends and play?
They have a group system in which is bare bones but works, you can group up with 3 players and go into matchmaking like that, you may also create Private Lobbies/Matches and have a host and people join.

- Is it easy to get to and hard to master?
I would say it's easy to get into if you're a regular at these types of games or 'difficult' to handle moviment, but if you aren't you may have trouble doing what you want at least the first week you play, with that said when you learn the basics and want to go further you will notice how much you step away from the 'regulars' and skill matters a lot, and not just individually, map control and teamplay are very important in this game, just being able to pass correctly and position well even if your individual skill isn't great you may win some games anyways.

- Does it run well? FPS/Performance wise?
I think so, there's some performance issues here and there that players have been reporting and it seems strange since the game seems so light-weight but I think the Devs will work these out as 'reports' come in and we'll get a even more stable game in the future, for me there's no big issues. There isn't many Video Settings to change at the moment sadly but that may change in the near future too.

I had an amazing time with this game so far and I am always playing alone and matchmaking alone, so imagine the potential of playing with frieends, there will be ranked matches, team creation, fixes, more settings and so on..

I never expected to play this game so much, I've seen it in videos, watched streamers and finally tried it when it was in Pre-Alpha, which they were letting users download a 'Demo' version of the game and join a server and try the game, and my experience was surreal and very much fun, and it led me to buy the game and join a Clan going by the name of '82nd Dread Korps Regiment' aka [82DK] which is one of the biggest or really the biggest clan on Foxhole at the moment, and my enjoyment of the game improved a lot after joining a clan, cause playing with an organized group made objectives and map conquering so much better, also I learnt much more compared to if I played alone, but I believe you can enjoy yourself playing without a group too.

Gameplay wise, it's great, it's a game that you can have a lot of fun solo or in a group, and players decide the fate of their factions, even just 1-3 guys are enough to change the balance of the war. Yes there's trolls, griefers, but not as much as you think there is, the playerbase is in a stable number and has a lot of veterans around that pretty much find it common sense to not troll and break rules and also respect the players. Who doesn't gets punished by Mods/Admins. We have a good number of players that help newbies too, which is great.

There's so much the game is lacking, that's why it's stamped with a "Early Access" tag, it isn't an excuse, many games do use the EA as an excuse, but I do NOT believe Foxhole is following that route.
Animations are poor, and there's many features that are planned but aren't implemented, but slowy but surely the Devs do what the playerbase wants, they listen and also deliver what they announce, which is a step forward compared to many other Devs.

The game has a lot of potential, it's fun, many more stuff will come with time, join us in the battlefield!!

Coming from a old Freestyle player, this is a nice little treat.
My thoughts:

GOOD:
- Teamwork required.
- Scoring feels satisfying.
- Costumization.
- Good latency and lag compensation.
- Crew/Team Matches
- Easy to get into, hard to master.
- If you're good at the game in terms of skill you'll notice you beat people with a lot of P2W stuff but you'll probably lose anyways.
- Achievement system, challenges, bingo, My Ball, freestyles and other stuff to keep you busy.
- MVP Rewards, the player that contributes more to the game/team gets awarded for it even if you lose.

BAD:
- Leveling is slow.
- No filters to sort out rooms.
- The game doesn't kick players that just stay there AFK (ex. You open a room and stay with it open forever without starting any game).
- No "click a button" Auto-Matchmaking to avoid room problems.
- It seems like there's low playerbase some times.
- A bunch of P2W stuff that you need to get better.
- Menus are a little confusing for new players but you'll get used to it.
- Should have a better introduction.
- Servers have problems, be sure you play on your closest region or you'll find yourself DCing or having lag problems.

*Overall it's really fun but difficult to get good at and understand how the game and systems work, give it a try!

What.... the ♥♥♥♥... did I just play?
It looks like you use a analog stick on your mouse, not a good FPS for using a mouse.
I bet it was originally a browser game.

[What I saw in 10 mins]:
-No warning on when a Server/Room is full, just kicks you out.
-You don't know what to do at start because there's no tutorial what so ever on anything.
-Bad spawns on every map, you can get spawnkilled and you can't do anything about it.
-No way of kicking/vote off players from the various servers.
-You pay real money just to have anything you want unlocked.
-Weapons show up in a inventory like list but they are there just for looks, it's what you have available to buy in-mid spawning/playing.
-Bad and lacking Settings.
-Movement/Animations are not smooth at all.
-IT'S a free game I understand, but look at how many free FPS games are there and they are surely better than this one, even the browser ones!
-TRY IT YOURSELF AND CRY OF THE FAILURE IT IS.

So bad.

Nothing agaisn't this game, it's a lot of fun, had my nice moments and I enjoy it, but copying another game just for profit isn't cool and now it's even broken with laggy servers and many can't even load in the game, lmao. Instead of copying an ideia the devs should probably use their skills to develop their own games.

Oh and.. if you think this game is free? No it's not, requests you to pay for the full game after playing for some time... wow : http://i.gyazo.com/32cae9a17c1c2f6014c0be28a876266f.png
