I really hate having to write this review today because I loved the game so much.

I have more than 200 hours on this game on PS5 and 50 more from mobile.

TL;DR:
  • game is still unplayable for many people and full of bugs after three weeks.
  • they retconned the story.
  • 5* outfits should have 10 pieces max, pity should be 180 pulls regardless of pieces.
  • bathtub for $10 is outright a scam.
  • sea of stars map was rushed and unfinished.
  • revert the dye system to how it was supposed to be.
  • negative chinese reviews are being deleted and bots are flooding the game with fake positive reviews.

  1. who the hell thought putting the 1.5 patch out in this state was ok needs to get beaten. The game became ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ unplayable on all platforms, performance is heavily degraded, my laptop CAN run it on medium specs (and did, back when I had tried it on the Epic Launcher a month ago) but I was forced to put everything on low after patch 1.5 because it just isn't running properly, it doesn't even reach 20 FPS, I can't even run and jump around.
The same can be said from mobile, after patch 1.5 I have all this problems there too so I can't even do my dailies when I'm not home now.
On PS5 my game keeps having 1-2 second freezes every minute. I'm lucky though, because there are people who cannot log into the game since the patch dropped on April 29th and can't redeem daily currency that they had payed for.
The state of the game is simply a travesty right now and it needs a negative review just for that.

  2. some people upon logging in the game even found their diamonds in the negative, I don't know how that's even possible, probably something to do with the fact that they subtracted the new whimstars from players, those algo going in the negatives. This game is all made in spaghetti code right now, and Infold are being dead silent about it. Many people from PS5 also got charged twice or thrice for the monthly pass instead of once. Again, Infold are silent about it.

As if that wasn't enough, onto the "best" bits now:

  3. they retconned the whole story on a whim. Like, who does that?? I've never heard of this happening in any other games and certainly not when it hasn't even been out for six months yet! I didn't even understand it was a retcon at first, I was just confused, but getting a new tutorial like I had never played the game before should have made me suspicious. The original opening? Gone. Ena in chains? Gone. Threads of Reunion? Gone. Momo? Who that? Gets dropped at our feet at one point like we have to know him from somewhere because of the 4th-wall-breaking "I know you have this companion in all your adventures" line. It just seems like a line thrown to make a nod to players of the other Nikki games. Giovanni? Sucks to be him, his whole lore changed and the new dialogue makes it seem like we don't even meet him at all now.
Why the ♥♥♥♥ is Nikki getting the Pear Pal without even meeting Dada now is beyond me. Now you just get dropped in front of the Stylist Guild without reason. Gone is the old tutorial, so they had to add some new whimstars so you can learn everything.
Someone who plays this game now for the first time is just going to be confused as to what the ♥♥♥♥ is happening.

  4. putting the two limited 5* outfits in this new opening of the game is just a scummy move made to make you want them more, and people who are going to play this game a month from now and will see them will wonder when they can get them. They can't, because they are limited time content and who knows when they'll come back.
With the original opening instead we knew that we were going to be able to craft Threads of Reunion FOR FREE at some point in the future.

  5. don't get me started on these new 5* limited outfits. ELEVEN pieces each? INCREASING THE PITY IN A GACHA, ARE YOU ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ INSANE INFOLD?? Going from 180-200 to 220 pulls for an outfit, and 360-400 to 440 pulls if you want all evos. THAT'S INSANE. What then, 15 pieces outfits? 17 pieces 5* outfits like you did in Love Nikki?! We can't let this happen. And as always, Infold responded like your tipycal corp with a non-apology statement that says "sorry about not telling you, we promise we will tell you when we increase the number of pieces in the future and promise we won't exceed 11 for now" basically confirming that all 5* outfits will have 11 pieces from now on. We DON'T need socks for a long ballgown. So scummy.

  6. they even reduced the amount of diamonds you can gain per patch with the Mira Crown, making it reset every 21 days instead of every 14. Yeah they later backtracked and said that it's going to reset twice a month but still, scummy thing to do anyway, reducing the amount of currency you can get in the game while also increasing pity at the same time.

  7. and what about the "big sale" on Momo's bathrobe and the bathtub!! Plus I can do the washing hair emote! TEN WHOLE DOLLARS INSTEAD OF FIFTY, OH MY I BETTER GET IT STAT!! ...NOT! Putting a fake discount on something that you always knew were going to sell for that price anyway is a scummy move, and it's outright theft at that insane price. There's a reason if this tactis is illegal in many countries.
Or what about the bubble wand that it's not even a hand-held item?? What am I supposed to buy it for if I can't even equip it and at least see it when I walk around??

  8. it's clear the MMO hub as I like to call it was rushed as hell and was not supposed to come out now, it was supposed to be something special to come out for the first anniversary of the game or something. They rushed it because of the Steam launch and the fact that they hyped this patch up as "the multiplayer patch" so much. It's all a buggy mess, and clearly unfinished, and having to run around collecting stars is idiotic and boring. Interacting with a bugged see-saw? Creating bubbles?? Becoming an animal so I can run around in a circle? What am I, 3 years old that you thought I would have found those things funny? It all just feels patronizing.

  9. they basically changed how the whole dye system works!! It's clear we were supposed to use resources gathered from the overworld, like with the Bullquet event! There's no reason to name the color palettes like items we pick up around the world if that wasn't the intended purpose of the items in the first place!! It was done just to monetize it, they introduced a new currency that you can only get by paying real money or you can get it from events, but the amount they give is minimum, because they want you to pay for dyeing your outfits.
Black/white color palettes for outfits are even locked if you don't have all evolutions, and the color you unlock is per item, not per outfit. It should have been unlocked for all items at once.
This ♥♥♥♥ doesn't even make me want to dye my pieces and hairs now because the amount of pieces that I can dye is limited. I have more than 1200 different items in this game.

  10. people on the official Discord and official Reddit have been banned for saying the word "boycott" or just for discussing the sorry-ass state the game is in right now. That's why we say we're "girlcotting" now. They banned even that word later.
Also the Steam page of this game was being flooded with fake positive reviews from chinese bots. That's an illegal practice and I urge you to report it to Steam if it keeps happening. They also were deleting negative chinese reviews.

This feels like some kind of End Of Service speedrun to me, but I don't think they're going to change anything, Infold is a sleazy, greedy company who cares only about money. There isn't another game like Infinity Nikki out there. They filled a niche with it, they have no competition, and they know it. That's why they are acting like this. Things can only change for the better if we vote with out wallet and boycott the game. They want money, that's the only language they speak so I stopped giving them mine.

I cannot believe the sorry-ass state this game is in.
Tried to launch it for the first time: it crashed. Tried to start a new game: it crashed.
I thought I had fixed it but about 10 hours in it keeps on crashing if I dare play it for more than one hour at a time. Sometimes when entering a building it keeps on loading forever and/or crashes yet again at random. Who in the fukc thought leaving the game in this state was a good idea? Bunch of douches.
Had I known beforehand about all the crashing I would have refunded it but alas that's not possible anymore.

This could have been a good game if it wasn't for the fact that you absolutely cannot skip any previously read dialogues or save when you want, which are features that I deem as necessary in visual novels and I refuse to re-play this game because of it.

Apparently the developers even reassured people that the skipping feature "will be added in the next update for the game" but that was said over a year and a half ago. Guess they abandoned this game uh. Shame. 4/10.

This game is boring. Simple as that. I don't know how I managed to play it for 5 hours but I did. For the first 3 hours literally nothing happened, and I just kept wishing for something, ANYTHING, to move the plot forward. It's such a drag, I don't even know if I'll ever manage to finish it.

If someone would ask me to describe this game with only one word, I'd say "real". It's the realest thing I've ever played.
You witness the horrors of war, but your character is not some soldier behind enemy lines, it's normal people. People that have to survive, and it's up to you to choose how far you're willing to go to do it.

Having both Bruno and Marko dead, my characters were depressed. I went scavenging with Pavle, searching for medicines for Zlata, who was sick and dying. I enter a house, and an old couple still lived there. The husband says that they've already been raided and the little they have is needed for his wife who's sick.
I stood watching my monitor for 15 minutes pondering what to do. I chose to rob them in the end, feeling awful about myself, but I needed those meds.
Zlata tried to comfort Pavle about it, but died anyway the next day. It was all for nothing. I returned to the house, and the old couple was also dead. Pavle killed himself in the end.

This ending put me off the game for a whole year, and I've been able to replay it just a few days ago. I managed to get better endings for all my characters, but not without a cost.
We need games like this, games that make you think hard about morality and life itself. I want to thank the developers for creating such a masterpiece. This is an absolutely beautiful and heart-wrenching thing, but I don't think I'll have the strenght to ever play it again.

The only flaw this game has is that it's too short in my opinion. Other than that, if you liked To The Moon then this is definitely a must play.

I can't really bring myself to recommend this game. It just has too many plot inconsistencies within itself and with LiS and the story feels too rushed, what with the game taking place only in a matter of 3 days and all. Writing is nothing special, and all of episode 3 is just a trainwreck full of awfulness.
I bought the deluxe edition because I wanted to play the extra episode called Farewell - and that I actually liked.

I didn't play this game when it first came out so I decided to pick it up now seeing as it was on sale, plus I loved Heavy Rain and Beyond: Two Souls and wanted to see how this one faired compared to them.
This has to be one of the worst games I've ever played gameplay-wise, I mean I wasted half a hour in the tutorial because I didn't know what the ♥♥♥♥ kinda buttons was I supposed to press when the car came towards me, I remapped the controls to TFGH instead of the numpad and that is helping, but the fact remains that the QTEs are just ret.arded in general and take a lot of space so you barely see what the hell is going on in the game, personally I'm too focused on not screwing them up than paying attention to what is appening on screen, I was just kind of aware that Lucas was running from giant mites-things all of a sudden.
I'm sure that back in 2005 this game was good, but it aged really badly imho. Also I'm not a fan of how the story is unraveling, revealing that there's something supernatural going on, but that is personal preference. I would have liked for the game to be a little more rooted in reality is all.

You'll dump hundred of hours on this game without even knowing, I know I'm doing it. It's so damn addicting and fun, I couldn't remember the last time a boss fight gave me goosebumps, now I get full-fledged panic attacks and I'm not even joking. brb trying to kill BoC for the first time ever.
