I really recommend this game if you play a lot of big, AAA, open world game. While it isn't the most amazing or difficult gameplay loop, it really shows how a game doesn't need to have a massive open world to be fun, as long as the gameplay is enjoyable. In fact, it was nice being able to get across the entire map in just a couple of minutes.

I haven't played a telltale game like this since Minecraft Story Mode lol, so I can't give too much nuance. While the story is good, the thing that strikes me most about this game is how well they use the dispatching mini game sections to convey the emotions of the characters in the story. Whether or not you enjoy these styles of games, I do recommend trying it as the dispatching sections are enjoyable to try and optimise (I suggest dedicating a hero to each edge of the skill sheet, one for movement and charisma, one to charisma and intellect, one to intellect and combat, etc) For any achievement hunters out there, beware, the hacking achievement is quite annoying to get as you cannot know whether you've missed any until you've finished the whole game.

There's not much to say. You flip the coin, you hope it lands heads. At only $2, its hard to say the game isn't worth it, but there really isn't much you are actually doing when its open.

I do hope there is an update that adds an endless mode. Maybe uncap the upgrades, and when you hit 100% flip chance unlock a second coin that flips at the same time. I know the point of this game is to parody idle games, but it would add more value to the game with minimal effort.

Fun Fact: You can 100% this game with both jump and the up direction bound to your up arrow (it will make the last screen of 5C unbelievably annoying, however). Highly recommend, although maybe try a slightly easier platformer as a warmup to this, I struggled a lot at the beginning.

If you're looking to get into soulslikes this is the perfect start. The variety of strategies in combination with its open world makes it great for new players. If you get stuck on a boss, you can always go try something else, level up, and discover a strategy to progress. If you decide to play, and continue through to NG+7, consider powerstancing antspur rapiers with some combination of poison, blood and frost attunements/ashes of war and the rot and bleed talismans. The build requires you to be pretty overleveled to make it work, but the moveset is fun, and getting all the different status effects to pop at the same time is super satisfying.

This is a difficult review for me to write.

As an achievement hunter I'm glad I can add some version of HL1 to my completions alongside HL2 and HL: Alyx. And while the upgraded visuals were stunning, I wasn't super impressed with the new gameplay. The new Gonarch fight was great, but the rest of the puzzles in Xen didn't feel super inspired to me.

While I would write that off as personal preference, the more glaring issue to me were three of the more difficult achievements (bringing cyanogen to the gonarch's layer, and bringing both the hat and the pizza box to the end of the game). Bringing a random prop to the end of the game is an already boring achievement imo, but it is a staple of the other games (Gnome Chomsky in HL2:EP2 and HL:Alyx.

The problem is if you wanted to get all the achiemevents, you would have to either carry two (or three when you have the cyanogen) items through the game, which is unbearably tedious, or play through the game 2 or three times and focus on one item each. I wish they had just kept it to either the pizza box or the hat, and found a more interesting way to bring the cyanogen to the Gonarch.

I have to not recommend this game as I think it doesn't provide much improvement over the original HL1, and is not a very interesting 100% to get.

Outside of Half Life: Alyx this is probably the game that uses the VR medium the best. Make sure to get mods and try all the free community maps (and get an update suppressor as most updates will break mods for a while)

There isn't that much I can say that hasn't already been said thousands of times before me. This game is probably the best price to quality gameplay you can buy currently. Even with over 120 hours I've barely scratched the surface of the stories this game has to offer. If you're hesitant to buy it because you don't play many turn based RPGs, go for it. I was in the same boat and this game completely changed my mind.

Is this the first user review? That would be cool :)

It took about 40 minutes to get all the achievements, then I spent another 15ish getting the "hero gives up" ending.

Cute idea and super glad it got added to steam!
