Despite the negativity, I'm enjoying it. Captures some of that old school, open world street racing feel.

-Traffic interaction reminds me of Midnight Club. Would recommend maxing the traffic option in settings.

-Camera movement could be a bit smoother and filter out more extreme movements (like the aforementioned collisions with cars and walls). It's also a bit too low at times so height adjustment would be nice. This is an important thing for racing games imo so other than that, it's pretty good. Not overly stiff like GT.

-Handling feels extremely similar to Street Legal Racing Redline but better imo. It's not amazing, but it's not nearly as bad as people have been saying. Way better than NFS 2015 for example as much as I like that game for other reasons. Contrary to popular belief, you don't have to slide around every corner in this. I'm a few hours in and this is one of the first things I realised. One thing that really needs to be changed is the friction from hitting walls and other cars. It doesn't feel very good. It's not as bad as other indie racing games can often be in this regard where the slightest tap with the rear of the car grabs you and spins you right around, but it's pretty bad. Also the brakes are way too weak at times.

-Most of the music that's there is surprisingly good for an indie game, but there isn't much variety at the moment.

-Car audio is pretty how ya going.

-The exploration and world design reminds me of a variety of games. Parts of the city have that colourful, vibrant, twisty Underground 2 feel. Other parts of the city are more cluttered and bleak with more typical street layouts, kinda reminding me of Heat, which isn't a bad thing at all. There's plenty of canyon style roads outside of the city too which is nice. It's a very nice mix overall.

-The game is sliiiightly too on the grindy side for me at the moment. They could do with making the game at least feel more rewarding for the grind that's there (As an alternative to simple money/car rewards. Think junkman parts or rare vinyls whenever that comes to the game. Those would make it feel more satisfying).

-Some stats/systems are a bit confusing at first, but it's not a big deal.

-AI voice slop is awful. Would 1000% recommend muting the dialogue volume in the settings. That's one of the first things I did and I wouldn't have it any other way.

-Graphics are nice. There are a few small parts of the map where I feel like they're a bit empty and need some more set dressing. I feel like they're just mundane spots that have been overlooked though, so it's the exception not the rule. There is a bit of grass pop in that could be improved when you're off roading. Zero forced TAA is a massive blessing visually. Everything looks crisp asf because of that.

-Performance has been good for me. Game is on a ssd and I get some rare stutters but it's pretty smooth. Bonus side note, the game seems like a good stability tester for cpu overclocking, undervolting, etc. I've played many hardware sensitive games and this game seems pretty consistent and sensitive, which is a good thing for nerds like me.

EDIT: I've beat almost all the clubs now. I really wish there was a new game+ style thing for each one because i'm not super into online racing/leagues. Please let us go through the clubs again but with more difficulty and rewards (Potentially exclusive rewards like unique decals when the livery editor is a thing or even bonus special currency). Think prestige in cod or eddies challenge in nfs 2015. Late game content that is single player friendly. Maybe let us pick our own class restrictions for any club after completion so we can try diff routes with more build variety? Just some suggestions.

They do have the elite races which unlock after beating each club but the elite races also have a cooldown which forces you to rotate between them in diff cars/classes. Idk it just doesn't do it for me. They don't feel very rewarding or difficult in the end-game, which is the point at which I started doing them because I didn't have much else left.

Also small revisions to past comments - The grip racing overall is much better when you're in a fully upgraded/tuned car. The stock gearing on alot of cars kinda suck too, would highly recommend getting the minimum one that lets you tune gears and leaning towards acceleration almost all the time. The braking feels much better too once you've fully upgraded them, max the braking force, and use the best tires.

PVP Centric Review:

Unless you're absolutely cracked AND you have the best class, equipment and weapons, you won't have fun in PVP. Almost every lobby is filled with players who know all the tricks in the book and what mods and exotics are prime for being abused at any given time. The spawns are also blatantly poor, which makes no sense given the size of the maps. This is worsened by the fact that you have to suffer through a spawn in animation while you sit there getting spawn trapped.

It isn't new/returning player friendly in the slightest. The matchmaking is among the worst i've ever witnessed in modern multiplayer gaming. It's absolutely busted. Half the time the game states "We're breaking up those teams to find a better match" after a steamroll, the same people in the lobby remain, dominating everyone else for the hundredth match in a row.

You want a way to check your ping? Go ♥♥♥♥ yourself! Speaking of ping, the hit detection is so inconsistent and awful sometimes, which, come to think of it, is probably because no sane person is matchmaking for PVP modes in my region.

On a similar note, the game does a horrid job of explaining many mods, perks, exotic traits, stats, abilities, etc. The fact that PVE, PVP and Gambit (PVPVE) modes treat some of these parameters distinctly from other each other (Often with no explanation) makes this a million times worse. There's so much ♥♥♥♥ you have to look up in a browser window it's just ridiculous. For anyone unaware, D2Gunsmith is a good 3rd party resource for figuring out anything weapon related.

These comment(s) are more centred around GTAO rather than the single-player experience:

I don't think this game deserves all the hate where people exaggerate the difficult grind. It's really not all that bad, especially if you don't waste your money in the beginning.

There are some easy one and done ways to get lots of cash early on in Online (Eg, the Bounties/Treasure hunt, Flight School, random free money giveaways by R*) so if you invest in good businesses and do your research on them (the r/gtaonline sub has great info), you'll make really good money later down the line. Also keep a keen eye out for what events have double money/rp. Even when I was just starting i was able to do this and splurge a bit of cash around too in the process -- You just gotta do it in moderation until you start making the big bucks.

I've heard of some people being falsely banned -- I haven't had this happen to me personally. Just be real and don't cheat/mod. R* have stated themselves that they do not ban people who have had money dropped on them by a modder too. Do take this with a grain of salt as I've heard anecdotal evidence stating otherwise.

In terms of the support R* provides -- it's good if you're respectful, detailed and honest in your query and don't mind waiting a couple days for a support response. They helped me out with not receiving my 1m reward from the All in Order award and Loyalty award bonus. There's been one or two more occasions too but I can't remember them in-depth tbh.

Early Access Review
This is such a helpful editor! Super easy to use and intuitive.

Here's some feedback/criticism:
-Add more fonts to the text and time stamp tools.
-Make it easier to change between solid background colours and gradient background colours (Just add an option to choose between them, instead of having to removing all the gradient markers and making the remaining markers the same colour to make a solid colour or vice versa to change it back)
-Give us more options when it comes to exporting (Bitrate, encoding, etc)
-The particle and camera effects are tied to bass by default. An option to change it to mids or highs like the visualiser would be cool.
-This one may be a bit complex, but adding an option to enable certain things at certain points of the audio would be nice too (Eg, 'Subscribe' text or an image which triggers at a specific time).

**SOME ISSUES EVERYONE SHOULD BE AWARE OF BEFORE PURCHASE!!!**

Most people agree that they've ruined the Armour/general customisation progression, as do I. They say it was to make it 'easier' but there's so much less choice and sense of accomplishment now, and you can't even earn anything to contribute towards armour via campaign!

Also, there's no daily/weekly challenges, though I heard these are coming.

Netcode feels a bit odd, but maybe it's just me.

Also getting a bug where I can't hear anyone in voice chat, and I know this one isn't just a 'me' issue because I asked around in matchmaking and encountered others with the same issue.

Menu/UI is overcomplicated and feels misorganised to me (compared to non-MCC counterparts of any of the MCC games) who has never played the MCC before and some of my settings like FOV don't save in the options..

Default keybindings are a bit odd, and why can't we change chat related keybindings? Also, why can't we choose a traditional Halo/CS style zoom option?? Some of us don't need a dedicated keybinding for further zooming our weapons.

Forge is delayed, but can be accessed via modding.

...

Halo Online feels more polished lol. All that being said, if you're ok with the above problems, you'll enjoy the game.

Overall, 8.5/10 if you can put up with those issues. 6/10 if you can't.

>Started a full lobby match with mates.
>Was underdog for a while :(
>One of my friends grew too powerful.
>I gathered support from multiple mates who were struggling financially, but had many buildings.
>They went bankrupt to help me.
>1v1 situation with mate who was too powerful.
>I have 80% map control and a **ckton of upgrades on my properties. Piece of cake, I thought.
>Me and him going back and forth (he avoided all my tiles/buildings for many rounds, somehow)
>3am, match has gone for at least 4 hours now...
>Friend who was hosting disconnected, and now -- of all times -- we couldn't rejoin :(

We will never know who won that match...

11/10, would waste my life playing this game over and over again :D

No but seriously, this is one of the best party games i've ever played. Similar to UNO, but matches are longer and you can rejoin 9 times outta 10 if you disconnect.

2024

Still sux <3

2021

This game has really fallen off as of late. It's so incredibly difficult to enjoy this game these days with how little care the developers seem to give when it comes to keeping the game fair, balanced, and bug-free.

For years now this game has been riddled with rare gamebreaking bugs (Such as getting stuck in the map), constantly deceptive and infuriating hitboxes, extremely abuse-able and broken perks, etc, etc.

They would rather add more poorly balanced content or rework visuals over fixing anything in the game.

On a side note -- This game also runs like ass considering how it looks.

My old review:

Reeeaaaally fun and intense game!!

I got 32 hours through playing the game on free weekends before finally having it gifted to me by a friend (Was planning to buy it myself, though. Shoutout to FreshPrincePinoy). It's that good.

There are some killers that feel a bit overpowered compared to others, however. Random lag can ruin skill-checks sometimes too, but that's not necessarily the game's fault.

Also, I don't really play killers so I can't speak for much on that part.
