Early Access Review
One of the more polished early access games that doesn't really feel like one.
It's a mixture of games. Overall it plays like Dwarf Fortress and a bit like Dungeon Keeper in a side-scrolling Terraria setting with Minecraft crafting.
The Dwarf Fortress part is obviously not that complex, but you can still feed, name, equip, somewhat skill your dwarfs. Dwarfs get tired, claim beds, need comfort, run to/from fights and complain.
The side-scrolling 2D setting feels like the best compromise as of yet to abstract DF interface and the not so great tries of building 3D representations of other games.
There is a lot to craft, in the typical Minecraft way, though the crafting process itself is a bit cumbersome.
The game isn't easy, at least in the beginning and the pacing of the game can be best described as slow.
Graphics are great and polished, the music and sound effects are also nice, though the snoring of the dwarfs can be a bit annoying. The only technical difficulties right now are Dwarfs getting stuck, but you can take control of any of them and fix this.
