When it works, it really, REALLY works, its fun and fast paced, you don't know if you're coming or going, and then other times you're sat pressing next turn like a hooker refreshing her text messages waiting for a reply from her crack dealer.

Gameplay:

Everyone says this isn't like your normal total war campaign. It is. All your old stratergies work as long as you can read you should have too hard of a time adjusting.

Units literally mean nothing, they don't matter, they're buy and forget, as long as they don't die in a battle you're usually good.

Economy makes no sense, I've gone from earning negative money and no food one turn to earning 8-9k money and having tonnes of food.

The faction names are irritating and annoying, I understand they're historical names but the only thing helping me remember who is who, is the fact that their portraits are literally plastered everywhere.

It runs well, I don't drop below 60fps on max settings with extreme unit sizes.

Making deals makes no sense if you wanna be a trustworthy dude, I've signed peace treaties and vassals the next turn demanding I defend them against the same faction I just secured peace with.

Diplomacy although reworked, is just meh, it now consists of clicking quick deal and seeing what you can get.

Romance mode consists of slaughtering the archers as fast as possible, throwing your men into the backsides of their infantry, your men becoming "friends" and apart from going into rages when their companions fall, nothing else happens.

Duels. Duels don't happen. if your general is anyway what so ever decent, the enemy don't want too or can't.

I'm purely recommending this game based on the fact this is the first time in a long time CA have released a good game and actually listened to the community on what works and what doesn't. overall I'd give it a 7/10.

Early Access Review
How can a low poly indie game in early access manage to have a better handle on being a dinosaur zoo tycoon than a AAA game based on literally running a dinosaur themepark? Plus I've seen more interaction from this dev than from the other tycoon game in 3-4 posts than I have in a whole year of following the other game.

I genuinely look forward to whats to come and wish the dev all the success in his game.

I love the game.

It's just severely lacking in features such as park decorations, guest needs, and actual attractions that guests interact with and don't just generate revenue.

The maps are far, FAR too small to get anywhere on so it makes buying the monorail feel absoloutely useless because your guests don't need to walk that far to get anywhere, and the contracts system seems to be completely useless "We'll give you 100k for something that will cost you 600k to do" or "place this upgrade in your hatchery that you won't even be able to research 'till you get to the third island" .

Apart from that, it does a good job of replicating JPOG but doesn't do anything to modernise it other than the absoloutely wonderful animal behaviour, graphics and sound.

TL;DR: Maybe after a few updates, but right now not worth the £50

Doesn't deserve the hate its getting, sure there's no swastikas and an abundance of black nazis but overall its a massive step up from the past few years.

The only game that's had me on the edge of the seat race after race after race. Begging my drivers to just overtake one more care and take home at least 3rd.
