When entertainment turns into a surreal reflection of your life, you're a lucky man if you can laugh at the joke. Luck and I weren't on speaking terms. Or maybe the game was just too awesome to be funny.

Like always, the game had all the answers I was missing. It wasn't that it wasn't eager to talk. Quite the contrary. The game had plenty to say and once it started, it would never shut up. Its game play would keep you awake at night. The levels, all the slow-motion of all the kills you'd done. All the answers. The game was an absolute masterpiece.

You still don't understand what you're dealing with, do you? The perfect Alien game. Its structural perfection is matched only by its hostile challenge. I admire its purity. A game... unclouded by conscience, remorse, or delusions of morality.

Last word. I can't lie to you about your chances, but... you have my sympathies.

There was something disturbingly familiar about the game I was playing. The game play was all pretty moves.

Weapon statistics floating in the air, glimpsed out of the corner of my eye. the repetitious act of shooting, time slowing down to show off my moves. The paranoid feeling of someone bad mouthing Max Payne. I was playing a great game. Funny as Hell, it was the most amazing thing I could think of.
