Early Access Review
Never forget; Don't buy early access, no matter what. It is ALWAYS a scam. 10 years and basically no progress. Devs radio silent except for the occasional patch to stop steam from adding the "abandoned in early access" note.

I will carry the guilt for being partially responsible for the fall of the Warden frontline at The Long Whine for a very, very long time.

>try'n'die stereotypical "hard" game
>starts with the fascinating premise of being a small near defenseless animal in a dangerous ecosystem but never really goes anywhere with it or expands on it mechanically, if i'm being honest dark souls/elden ring gives me this feeling more effectively (somehow)
>astonishingly awful camera that severely limits your vision in rooms larger than the screen by only snapping the camera once you walk out of view and into an area you can't see
>instadeath
>slippery and unresponsive controls
>absolutely no objectives are explained and you are left to wander a massive world wondering what you're supposed to do outside of a vague thing that follows you and points in a direction, except mostly it lies
>speaking of a massive world, almost all of it is completely pointless and serves no purpose other than to prolong the game by trapping you in weird places for hours after you accidentally stumble in, and while in most games a big world is a good thing, that's because the world has interesting things to find, but in this case there is 100% a "correct" direction to go in and if you don't do it you will be massively punished
>only basic keybinds are explained and 99% of movement options are left for you to look up or accidentally input the key combination for (extremely unlikely)
>main selling point is that the world is a dynamic ecosystem but literally none of this matters for the player outside of enemies attacking each other as they will never notice it's effects, the game was originally about this ecosystem but devs turned it into a metroidvania with kaizo platforming
>dying doesn't just penalize you, it actively gets rid of your progress, sending you further and further and further back
>"dark levels" where you either squint or max your monitor contrast, either way you're coming out with a headache
>softlocks
>pray to RNGesus an enemy doesn't spawn on top of the room entrance and kill you instantly
>never at any point is any death a learning experience, it's simply an "oh well" moment as the majority of deaths are not at all shown or implied to be any fault of the player, so the only real personal growth that happens is repeatedly throwing your head at the wall until you eventually randomly pass through it due to good RNG
>stubbornness, not skill
>almost the entire story is behind a $15 DLC
>extremely muddy visual information, including objects that appear to be foreground but actually are background, background objects that are actually foreground, and vice versa, overall a nightmare for anyone with bad vision
>mildly elitist fanbase

It's not for me I guess. If you're someone with infinite time to spend on it then maybe give it a go. Still, it's very charming and I love the lore. To be clear, I don't dislike the game because it's difficult, that's exactly why I played it, actually. I quite like hard games. But this one seems to have a lot of really questionable design choices in it that makes the difficulty very unrewarding once you finally clear it.

very dead, only remaining players are sweats, and at least 15% of each team in every single lobby consists of hackers flying around instakilling everyone through walls.
