Hunt is in a league of its own among contradictory peers. On paper it's an extraction shooter light, but probably is more like a battle royale with a clear winner and all player's competing for a common objective. Instead of the stick Apex and PUBG give you with a blue circle funneling players, you get a carrot to force you to actively hunt for the objective which creates a zone a conflict. The gunplay of civil war era guns is refreshing among the full auto staleness of modern war shooters. This creates more tactical and strategic game play when you know the fastest firing rifle is a bolt action and have opportunity push between shots or reloads. The sound design in the game is phenomenal and factors heavily into the game play. The recent image update is overall great. It has some launch bugs that will get worked out, but with FSR I'm getting better performance than the old version. Unfortunately this game is review bombed for the new UI. After a week of using it I have unlearned my old behavior and it is serviceable. If you use presets, you can buy and equip your preset load out in 10 seconds. The devs already identified UI improvements and I believe it will get better. It's a shame that 5 to 10 seconds of UI fumbling after the change caused a review bomb for an update that only improves the actual game.
