This is an incredible game overall, definitely recommended. If you like medieval and fast-paced gameplay, with a hint of historical accuracy, then you'll really appreciate this game. Though it does have some flaws, such as a broken Horde mode, and a semi toxic community, the team is taking strides in improving the overall experience of the game. Being someone that practices HEMA, I'm a bit disappointed with the combat; though for what it is I can appreciate the simplicity and nods towards different techniques (the game being called Mordhau for instance, which means murder-stroke, a method of wielding a sword by the blade as seen in-game). A lot of the combat is very satisfying, especially when you manage to decapitate others or even make their skulls explode with the eveningstar. There is also a wide variety of customization in the game, a decent selection of items to choose from the further you get into the game. The fact that you can customize a character to your liking and use any combination of weapon and armour really sells it to me, as it's always a chuckle seeing someone carrying three frying pans into battle, or even a lute which can be used to bash people over the head with. Though some of the armours appear to be from different eras and would pair strangely with other armours, for instance 15th century Gothic armour with the "viking helm" is an odd choice. Though I do like customization, I feel that seeing combinations like rapier and heater shield in-game effects immersion, as well as seeing half naked soldiers charging at you. Though this is mainly what creates so many hilarious moments, so it's a balance of good and bad. The maps in this game, though pretty limited, hold a great deal of detail and love. The playing field is typically quite large, though a lot of the maps are unbalanced; not to mention there is no real designated spawn room on most of these maps (Only a few maps have safe spawn areas, and when they do it's typically only for one team like on Camp, red is the only team with a raised spawn on Camp). However, despite all of these cons, I do feel that I have to give a positive rating for the sheer fact that there is such a wide range of customization, a PVE mode, a battle royale, and most importantly, it's better than Chivalry and whatever Chivalry 2 is.
