After 60 some odd hours into the game (and not finished with it yet) I can say I've been having a blast with it and came away with some thoughts and impressions. This is what this “review” is comprised of. So despite all the immersion breaking bugs and drama I’ve been my time in Night City, which looks amazing, as has been said over and over.

The story has been great along with all the side jobs, but the main story is what stands out to me. I don’t want to spoil anything, but it’s the themes and characters that give it quality. Even some of the side quests don’t hesitate to pull a few punches. Had a few thought provoking moments even.

The skill trees are fine for me, as is the crafting system. They’re just fine, it’s nothing that really stands out. If anything it’s functional, which isn’t a bad thing. Every game I’ve played does it’s crafting & skills differently, to the point where I can’t really point out which one is better than the other and I don’t understand what people are talking about concerning the depth of these features. That’s my problem though not the game, so I’m leaving that here.

I like the cybernetics in this more than the modern Deus Ex releases, although not by miles. The impression I got was I had more options thanks to more selection to pick and choose from. The cyberdeck stands out to me the most as it was a lot of fun hunting down the credits for a better deck and the materials I needed for quickhacks. Plus there’s a slew of useful and, most importantly, fun quickhacks in the game, each with progressively more features as one goes from basic up to legendary levels of quickhacks. Nice.

Since this is a shooter, that aspect is satisfying enough for me, but I’m no seasoned FPS gamer so if you are, look at other reviews.

Things that "bug" me: The AI is really wack in this, across the board. NCPD isn’t really functional and combat AI is firmly “eh.” Pedestrians and civilian cars don’t seem to think much, but I can manage to let that fade into just being a backdrop as much as the city is. They’re definitely not as interactive as GTA V though. Oh and spoiler, what was up with that montage sequence with Jackie? I wanted to play through all that, not watch it! The 8MB save bug is a really big annoyance and has me constantly eyeing the file size (this was fixed, so yay). And as has been mentioned a thousand times, game has bugs.

Oh and I would have liked a bit more “immersion” in the city, like some in game gambling, some variance in activities, experiences, something. There’s underground casinos for crying out loud and sweet looking restaurants to sit at.

This is going on to long for my taste so, I had fun and still am, gotta finish the game after all. Game should’ve been held back a bit more to make a better first impression. Personally I can recommend it, but I can easily see why some don’t recommend it (as long as it’s decently thought out, like this one: https://steamproxy.net/profiles/76561198319703599/recommended/1091500/ ).
