This game has been controversial because of the various performance issues plaguing the game since launch. I haven't experienced much of the issues floating around various pages on the internet, so I can't comment on the severity of the issues. I might be in the minority though, as the max resolution I play at is 1080p, so my hardware is not being taxed as much as others. I will list the specifications of my computer at the bottom of this review as well as a TL;DR, as it is a bit lengthy.

Let me start off by saying this is a solid entry in the Star Wars Jedi series of games from EA. It seems to have built upon everything that made the first game great, so much of this review will be comparing it to its predecessor.

To start off, the planets are immensely upgraded both in terms of scale, and activities on each world. Where as in the first game, you might spend under an hour on each planet; in Jedi: Survivor, after beating the prologue and being brought to the first planet that can be explored to the best of Cal's abilities at that point in the game, I spent close to 5 hours on, before the story required me move on to the next planet.

Second, the customization system for Cal, BD, and their equipment has been immensely improved. For Cal's equipment such as his lightsaber and blaster, you can change out each of the main parts of the weapon, you can customize each of the parts' colors (for which they're a ton of colors to choose from, most of which, though, will have to be collected by finding chests littered throughout the game world), and you can even customize how much wear and tear is visible on the weapon. The same applies also to BD, where you can customize the main components such as his legs, visor, head, and a couple of others. And for Cal, instead of being limited to several flavors of poncho, you can now customize his hair, facial hair, shirt, jacket, and pants. There are articles of clothing such as a bomber jacket and a corsair jacket, a tank top or a long sleeve shirt, and countless others. Plus, the ability to customize the color scheme of each item of clothing is carried over from before.

Next, as for general game play, you have quite a few more options. There are a total of five "stances" that you can choose from in order to fight the empire. You can only have two equipped at a time, and can only change which two are at the ready from a workbench found in the game world. The two stances from the prior game are here: Single and Double ended blades, but you also have a stance that includes a single blade, and a blaster, a stance that sees Cal disconnect the two ends of his light saber to dual wield sabers, and a stance that makes the saber act more like a Claymore, which is to say you attack slower, but the damage you deal is higher. Theres also a new perk system, new abilities that can be used to transverse the world, and more. However, to go over all of those would require a novel sized review. Just trust me when I say navigating the world is more fun than ever!

And finally, the story is top tier. The writing is done so well, that I honestly forget its from a company with such a reputation as EA for micro transaction, live service, multiplayer, cash grab laden crap that I'm sure anyone reading this review will be familiar with. Not much I can say, as I do not want to spoil the game of course, but just know that the full cast of Cal's crew returns.

TL;DR Jedi: Survivor built on everything that made the past game great. Much greater level of customization for Cal and his gear, much more fleshed out game worlds with much larger play spaces per planet, and the story is top notch just like the prior entry with the entirety of Cal's crew reprising their roles!

My computer specifications:
CPU: Ryzen 5 3600
GPU: RTX 2070 Super
RAM: 16GB DDR4
Storage: 2TB NVME

With the friction that this game has (rightly so, I might add) caused between the community and EA, I hope that this review doesn't come off as a bootlick to the mega-corp. I was just strictly portraying my thoughts on this game. If you need any reassurance that I am with most everyone who thinks EA could be a better company, more of the time, take a look at the paragragh just before the TL;DR.

This entry in the GTA series is a bit of a departure from the normal formula as far as the story is concerned. It's a bit grittier than previous entries. Some dislike this, some like it. I for one enjoy it. The game is overall high on my list of favorite games.
