The Silent Hill 2 remake is fantastic, as it takes the old game from 2001 and improves on it in many ways, from the controls, down to most of the gameplay elements and puzzles. The biggest complaint I have is that this game runs kinda terrible on PC, even on an SSD and an RTX 3070ti. (I was streaming however, so that might've been part of the problem.) Another complaint I had was in regards to combat. The combat feels somewhat lacking, as there are only a few major types of enemies you will come across, and it all boils down to the repetitive cycle of "dodge, attack, dodge, attack, dodge, knock down, stomp, stomp, dead." While it doesn't kill the experience for me, I'm certain there are some players who would prefer something more fleshed out.
Boss fights however, were fine for the most part, but often had predictable attacks once you learned the patterns. Criticisms out of the way, I found myself enjoying the fights most when I was low on ammo and health, which would force me to switch up my tactics.
Moving on from combat, the exploration is rich, as there are plenty of details to spot, and collectibles to find. (If you like doing stuff like that.) The entire experience was a massive improvement over the 2001 game, and made itself more immersive, as James, along with the rest of the cast, feels like they are alive and breathing. When James takes a swing, or stomps on any sort of abomination, he sounds terrified at the very act of defending himself. He sounds like a terrified person who had been thrust into a terrifying world. Before jumping into a seemingly bottomless dark pit, you can hear his frantic breaths, as if he is uncertain he will either live or die if makes that plunge.
I won't go into the story, seeing that would just be a critique on the original game itself, but I mean it when I say that the characters feel alive. The acting is great, and feels like a vast improvement over the original game. The only thing I would critique in regards to the acting, was the final reading of Mary's Letter to James. While this actress did an amazing job, the original actress for Mary in the 2001 game conveyed more emotion in that letter, due to her actually crying during the take, which made it stand out to me. On a similar note, I appreciated the lack of music during this sequence in the original, as it felt thematic, whereas throughout the game, the soundtrack was always there, giving off a constant sense of dread. During this sequence, it is quiet and still, as Mary reads the letter. It is something that almost feels real and relatable. Like you are reading a letter from a loved one who is truly gone. Again, I cannot fault anyone for this, as the original delivery of this sequence was legendary, and was something that couldn't be done twice. I cannot shake it, and wish to share my thoughts.
I would easily recommend this to anyone who enjoyed the original, or to anyone curious about the franchise. However, if you are a stickler for performance, I would recommend waiting until these issues have been ironed out.

As for the whole DEI thing, I tend to be cautious about these consultant firms being hired, as they often sacrifice the integrity of the game and story over a political matter. However, in regards to this game, it is nothing to be concerned about, seeing there has been no changes to the narrative, or anything crucial for that matter. I've seen people complain that the women aren't pretty enough in this horror game, but that argument does not hold up in my opinion, as their faces were modeled after the actresses playing them. Other arguments I've seen mostly stemmed from ignorance, almost as if they never played the original game. So, if you are concerned that Hit Detection tampered with the narrative, you can rest easy. The only thing they did, was ensuring that the game met industry standards and featured proper accessibility options.

How is the current iteration of EA's Battlefront 2 better than this collection?

Help, I haven’t been outside of my room since I started playing this game, and I think my wife took the kids to her mother’s place! Fun game tho!

I used to have positive feelings about this game, now I am regretting the fact I bought this, and has taught me to never pre-order Bethesda games ever again. Just skip it. Not even the DLC and mod support is enough for me to sacrifice 120+ gigs of precious disk space, just to play this shallow experience.

EAC is not going away, but a lot of the QoL updates the devs released is showing great promise. Still a shame a non-competitive game has an anti-cheat in place, but it is still a great social game no less.

Odyssey is tricky. Some like it, some hate it. I personally like it, but I had to find what I do like about it. My personal recommendation: If you are about to pick this up, please do not feed into what others are saying and form your own opinions. Others are having issues with performance. It's usually fine on my end, but don't expect a 100% optimized experience either, because you will end up disappointing yourself. So far, missions are great on foot, but could use more variety and tweaking. The gun play feels a lot like old-school Halo and CoD mashed together, but could really benefit from a cover and lean system, and the AI are not so great in combat. The best part of it in my opinion is the exploration. Being outside of your ship gives you a grand sense of scale, and it is breath taking when you realize how small you really are.

If there was a so-so recommendation, I would give it that, but all I can say is use caution when buying this game, and allow yourself to form your own opinions from no one other than yourself.
