Been playing this since before this century. A real rogue-like; hard to beat, with deep and complex mechanics and (if you want) a story to tell.

Very relaxing, pretty, and tricky too.

This is an immortal classic, so there's not much else to do but play this. I've beat this game before, and I'll 100% it again.
The discount is more than fair. AND (unlike buying at Origin) this version comes region-unlocked for all.
It sure drags the Origin client along, though...

Failbetter don't mess around.
A ruthless lost-in-the-dark story-driven experience to last you a hundred hours. It's almost meditative.
Complete Sunless Sea first, though.

It's a beautiful game. And so it's all the more interesting how this is less playable than the mod that it was based on, just because of all the stuttering when strafing. Maybe you can set it up so it works... For now, that made it a good tech demo.

Immersive, skill-based, with tons of mechanics, strikes the right balance.

In short, it's a verdant world with pretty assets. 10/10 would wander there IRL.

Main issue: the narrator has a strange dialect while talking over a rather loud music, making me wish this game had subs or sound settings, but it doesn't. You can't disable the motion blur, either.

There are minor graphics rendering bugs, nothing too bad though. The jump button is slow to react, weirdly enough.

If you stay on path, you see non-interactable objects of varied relevance, then it ends in half an hour. If you don't, there are pretty places to visit, but the landscape doesn't like you straying off, so you may find yourself trying to jump out of the landscape holes for way longer than you want, and it seems that the checkpoint system isn't working (and you can't save manually). If only this were built on Creation Engine, if you know what I mean.

The story is... subject to personal opinion. If you do get used to the narrator. Maybe in a game like this, you're not supposed to care. I would, though.

As someone into gaming since ZX Spectrum times, I could not possibly miss out on such a good (and, dare I say, improved) clone of Dizzy?
This platformer adventure quest is good on its own, to be sure, but if you are one of those who feel a distinct lack of Dizzyland in their lives, you know what to do.
