The difficult settings impacts mostly the speed you advance in game. Deity is doable although most of time you will be running out of resources from growing population, which throws you back to the minimum population and resources start to pile up again, and then population rises and fall until you figure out the amount you need to grow with stability.

Fun game tho, I enjoy the challenge.
