8/10 game, 7.5 if being critical at the time of post.

Performance
The game runs okay (45-60 fps in main areas) on my PC (5900x, 3080, 32GB RAM, NVMe SSD) on 4K with DLSS mod. Had to force restart the game (game stops responding) a couple of times during my 50+ hrs game time all during random time from quest dialogues which is nothing game breaking. I have a capable HDR monitor and no HDR implemented is a missed opportunity to showcase the contrast of the world and the deep blacks in space with the stars lighting up while roaming on your spaceship. Hopefully they'll add it into the game later down the line. There's a mod that enables HDR but it's really not worth installing as the colours are washy and it looks worst than without it on.

The Positives
Game starts out pretty slow but once you arrived in New Atlantis (first main area) and joined the 'Constellations'; the game really starts to open up (around the 2-3 hr mark) from side quests, factions, main story and exploration. Haven't had a game made me lose time like this for a long time. Once I started to roam around the world picking up quests + activities; I was hooked. I have only completed a couple of main story quests so far as there's so much more to do than just rushing through the story as fast as possible.

You can build your character whatever you want, with an ok character creator. Once you pick up some traits for your build with the corresponding gear, your character can be pretty nutty. You can also make a melee only build if you want to. The ability to mod your gear is fun and a rewarding way to make your build shine once you've invested into the trait which I definitely suggest.

The ability to build + customise your own freaking spaceship. What more needs to be said? You can also create outposts which can source you raw material over time once you set it up.

The Negatives
There are quite a number of bugs & annoyances which made the game less enjoyable experience for me such as random AI spawning out of nowhere during dialogue scenes, AI popping out of doors, AI floating into the air, NPC dialogue overlapping each other during quests. I don't like how the AIs in the background just stare at you in the background when you're in a quest dialogue. What I really hate is the 'encumbered' state... just a stupid design making you unable to run more than 5 seconds + the ability teleport/fast travel if you picked up too much stuff.

The map design + the map UI is really hard to navigate. It is not really intuitive at all; you'll be relying on the scanner a lot to find your way to quest markers and to find stuff and surroundings around the world. If you want to go to a specific store/location in town; you'll need to remember where it was or look it up online as the map doesn't show you where it is.

Final Statement
In this current state the game is a good-great game not GOTY candidate that is a fun experience. If you're on the fence, try it out on gamepass. When the developers fix the bugs + QOL updates with addition of future mods and future expansions; I believe the game will be great game that can be played for a long time.
