Great soundtrack, but super disappointed there's no album art or metadata of any kind.
Unknown Artist/Album/Genre.
Couldn't find ANY images online to make my own art. =(

Come for the haunting music, stay for the mind-blowing science fiction story.

When I backed IN OTHER WATERS on Kickstarter, I had no idea of the incredibly detailed game that awaited me in such a compact form. Set in the far future when mankind has spread out across the stars, it follows the story of Ellery Vas who has been summoned to the planet of Gliese 677Cc by former coworker Minae Nomura. But when she arrives, Minae is nowhere to be found. So why IS Ellery here?

The game starts off as a search into the undiscovered waters of the planet to 1) find Minae, and 2) sate Ellery's innate curiosity as a scientist. The interface is simple point and click, and the information is presented in short text bytes that are quick and easy to read. What comes as a delightful surprise is the amount of information, description, atmosphere, and depth of story that developer Gareth Damian Martin has fit into them.

At its heart, IOW is a thought-provoking (without being preachy) science fiction novel (novella?) with elements of a point and click Visual Novel (less emphasis on the "visual") as well as old-school text adventures like ZORK (less emphasis on choices and guessing what to do next). While largely sequential, it is a wonderful game for players who aren't looking to guess about what moves to make next (though there is plenty of fictional mystery).

Play time for me was just under 11 hours at a 96% finish rate on a first playthrough. That's another element of the game, players are NOT required to complete all the smaller tasks of biological research (but it will help especially later in the game).

My one "dislike" was that chat dialog from Ellery to the AI (the player) came up when I least expected it and I missed some of it. (You can go back and read it in a dialog box when the game is paused.)

Cannot recommend this game enough! Pick it up! Support an indie dev/author!

Stunning visuals, beautiful music, endless replay value, multiplayer and yet not an overcrowded mess filled with griefers. Play as you like. Immense sandbox game. If you love the idea of exploring both a fictional universe and the depths of your imagination, then NMS is for you. I cannot recommned it enough. It is for both folks who love to spend time just exploring as well as those who love to gather and adventure.

LOVE IT! Truly haunting. The setting is truly engrossing. I can't wait to find out what the secrets are, yet, simultaneously, I don't want this game to end. It seems like a vast universe where there are a billion more stories to be told. I'm quite sure Big Robot could do quite a bit with this IP! If you dig robots, artifical intelligence, mysteries, space adventures... you'll LOVE this game.

Picked up this game WAAAY back in the day. Used to play it for hours on end. Recently picked it back up again and haven't had so much fun having my butt handed to me in a long time. Great game replay value, especially if you can find a bunch of folks with whom you enjoy "shooting" at and being "shot" by.

I can't remember when I've had so much fun. Granted, I have to admit, I'm terrible at puzzle type and timed games, of which this has elements of, but damn, this is just good fun. I wish Minecraft had built-in options to be similar to this.
