I have to note that i got a code for this to play pre-release on steam.

If you've played Payday then you basically have played crimeboss because the gameplay are basically the same just that there are some differences in how the game plays and different enough for the two series to co-exist. There's even lot to do in this game when it comes to either the rougelite or the MP that you'll probably be playing both when you go buy this game.

Rougelite: As the title suggest the main Singleplayer mode is the rougelite where you are given a set amount of time to take over the city of rockay city before Sheriff Norris completes your investigation on you and it game over. Meaning its you against the gangs of rockay city and the cops. The rougelite has lot to offer each playthrough coming to character stories that change for each run or, big heist that you get in different runs. Each run will never be the same because you can change it up or different factors comes into play that you have no control over and have no other but to grit through to your end goal. You are also rewarded with permanent rewards when you level up your boss level so that the next run is made easier the next time you go again on it.

Multiplayer: Is where the real fun begins because there's lot of jobs you can take in this mode. Varying to your simple bank robbery or your armored transport to robs which yield cash money that you will be using to unlock team members or equipment to use for your boss. Which, thankfully goes onto the topic of the player boss, where you can customize them to your looking using different perks that suit your playstyle and changing the looks to them to Micheal Madsen's Travis Baker, Micheal Rooker's Touchdown, etc. Where if you play the rougelite and win runs you unlock more characters to use for the multiplayer giving you reasons to go again in the rougelite. There are shuffles that are either short, medium or long shuffles where you do small jobs first and end on one of the big heists, where you are rated on how good you do with stars to gain extra money and XP. Urban Legends are like mini stories where you play 3 heist and are forced to play with the pre
-selected characters to finish the mini stories where you are rated yet again on 3 stars for extra bonuses of XP and money.

Progression: There's nothing worthy to give about the game but the progression is your standard get X amount of XP to level up to the next level. Everytime you level you get to gain a option to pick 1 reward out of the 3 that are given to you which unlocks goes to both the rougelite and the Multiplayer. Gaining XP goes to both modes so no matter what you play your level is across the two modes. The only thing i'm not a fan of the current system is that once you get high enough it becomes hard to level up because you won't gain as much XP and it'll feel like a grind to get it. Even, when the lobby is set to extreme which nets you more bonus XP but sometimes it doesn't fee like enough.

Other than, most of what i enjoy in the game is the gunplay which feels really nice to shoot with the guns. The jobs are nice and love the variety there is when it comes to jobs. one job could just be a mall robbery while next thing you know you're raiding a entire fortress to deal with a army of robots that have taken over rockay city. Variety is nice and hope that there is more to come in the future when it comes to the heist that are in the game. The game looks good enough that it's nice to see the streets of rockay city and how vibrant it is daytime.

Overall i'll give rockay city a 8/10 and personally can't wait to see what is to come into future updates from the lovely folks at IGS!
