(FYI) I kinda have to reference Everhood 1 in relation to this game, since, you know- this is the sequel. So keep that in mind.
Search up my review of that game too for more context. TLDSU: Its a great game and recommend it.

Everhood 2 is a bag of higher highs and lower lows, but I still think it is very slanted on being a very good game. A simple grab, and it can take roughly 9-10 hours to play through casually. You probably wont find everything on the first playthrough.

The story in this game is a lot less linear- in the sense some areas you go to are their own story, and you characters interaction through it. Some areas are accessible again after you beat the area, some are not. You can get lost in the narrative for each area too, diluting the main story as well...

At some points I'm wondering what the heck my goal is other than "Explore this door and world", so I might have missed some stuff here and there. Heaven knows I didn't get some side content- a few doors I still can't open still, and its too early in the game's release time to get help on those areas.

There are a few things I would add/change, but overall this game is quite good just as an experience... But, since I'm on my soap box and finished the story once:

  • Near the end of the game there is a flashing/static scene, along with a... "Mushroom Explosion" scene as well. I think both of those can/could be skipped, or at least the effects lessened..? I can see that being the worst moments of the photosensitivity.
  • I would love for access to all areas I visited after beating the game. Some areas I would love to just explore and see again without starting a new save file and getting to only see it once. Main areas could be the Hotel key zones please?
  • Due to the nonlinear style of the game, maybe some sort of way to show different routes/actions you can take..? Like on a new-game plus? Just something to help show me different steps, because certain character interactions makes it feel like I can do something different, but when I did, It went the same... Either clarification or some hint?

Its a great game; Wonky, Weird, Funny, and full on mental with its deep thoughts as well. I think Im gonna try a second play-though soon and really try to play up a character other than myself for next stuff, see if it changes stuff.
