An absolutely mind blowing and provoking experience. Everything happens for a reason in this story, and every character you meet is important; even the smallest details have an effect on the plot. There are also virtually no plot holes and if you get confused, everything will be explained as you progress. It is also worth replaying/rewatching to pick up on things you might have missed before. I have not finished the VN at the time of this review but already it goes into much greater depth than the show which is great. The music is also 10/10. All in all a must play.

Skyrim, but better.

The various ways you can build your character and make them your own is great, and there is a variety of flavor dialogue varying from culture to class. Combat is decent, while repetitive. The ship combat implementation is atrocious.

The game starts off promising, but it gets worse as time goes on. It just feels more and more rushed the more you progress. It's pirate theme really doesn't fit this game considering the story of the original. The story is very unrewarding and shallow and has frankly put me off from finishing it. I did however find enjoyment in the DLCs.

A lot of the dialogue is corny and has made me physically cringe on some occasions. The overarching story is presented as quite serious but jokes are inserted too frequently and at inappropriate times. One of my favorite characters from the original (Eder) is reduced to comic relief and at times just a straight up idiot manchild. As a matter of fact a lot of the companions from the original have taken a complete 180 in their personalities (Pallegina) for example. It's as if a different Obsidian team wrote them.

While not a terrible game per se much more is to be desired coming from a great developer such as Obsidian.

+Character customization, roleplay opportunity.
+Decent combat.
+ Multiclassing and variety of abilities/talents.
+Enjoyable DLC.

-Poor main story.
-Shoehorned pirate theme.
-Ship combat
-Some terrible dialogue.
-Butchering of established character personalities.
