Styx: Master of Shadows

Give or take, this game may easily sneak behind your view and you will never know about it. Just you do in game, this product seems to have stayed in the dark for the most time, until one day, all of a sudden I noticed it on sale with a nice discount. Decided to get it and play it immediately, which I never done before, I didn't regret it. It takes off slowly, seems a little muddy and unclear, but later when you get the swing of it you need nothing more, you just enjoy what you're used of doing. What's the use passing by when it's on a huge cut off and the achievements are easy?

In-Game

We play as a broken-down orc which is now looking more like a goblin, obsessed with the sensation and power that the amber gives. The biggest source of it is the heart of the tree that we set out to possess. During the game we switch the tables with one of our own clones, changing the rhetorics. From chasing pleasures and avidity, to revenge and independence. Despite the goals of one another, each one fancies their own mind and motifs differ greatly. Staying in the shadows is rewarded but not mandatory (unless you aim for all the achievements). To get all the achiffs, you have to play each chapter at least two times, in order to get enough of the skill points. Some surroundings are pretty nice to be in and hint for cheeky adventures. Even in danger of being caught, it's still very easy to get by..

Call of Juarez Gunslinger

I wrote reviews before and I don't quite understand yet, why do I find myself doing it again for this game. I didn't think much of it, nobody had recommended it, no streamers, no videos. It was just one of those games I'd bought years ago that had received the same treatment most other games have. To think I nearly passed the thing by, I would have never known or cared, I'm so glad I haven't. But I knew I would remember it, the most genuine action shooter in a west setting I ever have played. I was happy to get double digits of achievements as soon I didn't seem to notice I was unlocking the last one on my way...

In-Game

Upon my first entry into it the scenery seemed cartoonish, flashy and just too much of everything around it. But the shooting is quite awesome and responsive, skill-rewarding. The vibe of the wild west is there and the retelling way of going about it is complimenting it, not devaluing it. Historical side of things seem to be on point and well written, key figures of the time did turn out intimidating. Showdowns are the highlight of the show, once one's hand gotten the hang of it, them fingers really do be pulling that trigger. Arcade mode with the leaderboards adds an extra flavour to the upscaling joy of shooting heads and scoring numbers (my friends stood no chance for that matter)

Titan Quest AE

Well fellas, where to start from here. First I should say I absolutely recommend this glorious piece of art to everyone who ever doubted as to buy it or not, sure do. I saw many people trying to give this game a tag of second only to Diablo, it's as far from reality as it is insulting to anyone who ever played both titles. This isn't and never was below any other game with the same style, it's a unique one with deep lore and great detail. Unlike it's counterparts, this beauty isn't dark and depressing, the game is beautiful with amazing sights to see. Repleted with stories and areas of ancient mythology, NPCs giving out stories to imagine and contemplate to. Scenarios we always wanted to play out having read on history of old. Forever something to feel relation to, everyone of us at one point has heard about heroes of the ancient era. Although the game has dated at this point, it hasn't lost the charm and the appreciating kind of players will always find something to strive for in this immortalized game. A number of DLCs adding more of the new things to an already complete and polished game set the bar up high and ways for us to enjoy something many of us loved dearly anyway. This game will outlive many of the lookalikes because it's got something not many other games got, a soul. In everything, everyway you look you see things being done with great attention, thrill and love for the project. Unmatched voice acting of the NPCs with their party stopping monologues, sights we otherwise only have seen in films, characters to face and play against. A remarkable trip to the world of ancient mythology as one of the deadliest warriors / magicians never giving up in spite of all the odds!

In-Game

One distinguished trait of the game is replayability so kindly made possible by a generous amount of classes to choose from. Whether it be a warrior school or magician, you'll always have ways to redo and go the other direction no matter how hard the current situation may be. But only the real hero will come out victorious as this game will show no mercy to those losing their focus fast and the great grind will always be. There are two types of players in this wonderful game: hardcore type of gamers or easy gainers just for the sake of doing it. Three upscaling difficulties present an ultimate test to your one and only hero with guaranteed gifts finding those going all the way through. Them plenty of achievements to keep the interest up high taking a huge time to be won over nicely keeping up with the overall hardcorishness. Only a very small number of players manage to do it the right way and walk it all through to the very end. Will you be one of us only time can tell, but something tells me you ain't the one! Wild hunt for rarest items will begin as soon as you find yourself ready to take on a challenge you never attempted before. Can you do it the intended way? Can you do it at all?

CS:GO New Year's Special

Young immature people is an everlasting presence in most competitive online games and this one is no exception. If you have history of game addiction you're better off passing it by 'cause there are no gains in it, only losses. The review is a thumb up only because I walked out of it a mature person, when I was not at the start. Lots of great memories and get-to-knows along the way. First silly love affair and all the other things you wouldn't be proud about and neither am I. The most hardened minds won't withstand the flow of toxic waste this game will inevitably pour on you and you should be prepared for it or better not even try it. It's wrong to let my personal encounters in game weigh in and fix the final takeaway of the game but it's hard not to knowing the nature of experience that goes hand in hand with joy and happiness of victories and ranking up. And then just having reached what many of us called perfection in Global Offensive, there goes what killed many of Valve's best, the numba' 2.

In-Game of 2

Well there I have a new smoke mechanic, an option to sell back what I bought, uh, new lighting and shinier graphics. That's about it basically, basically the same game. Similar treatment to L4D, that's all I wrote..

Well before I go on, the game is good, it has no bugs to my knowledge, no drops, no lags, nothing. But the extra number the title received upon release wasn't quite justifiable to say the least. Bar some visual changes and more of what had already been in the original game it's all the same thing beneath a new cover

For what is supposed to be a near death experience and all means put to survive characters behave inappropriately and throw out jokes which distract from the vibe I've come to expect in a game like this. I'd let it in if the jokes were funny and perhaps that's a me-oh problem and that's fine but here comes the physics talk..

Though a fan favourite Source engine on one hand, it's the butchered physics of the game's particular version of it that brings suffering. It's got nerfed big time in a not so good way. Various objects, be it dead bodies, props or whatever, seem to have no weight at all and gracefully hover round in circles till they finally touch a bloodsoaked ground

One more shot of nonsense comes from the achiffs department. Them a plenty but they aren't any good. Objectives in a style of "do a stealth fart while nobody looks at you in a crowded place at 9 o'clock", must've taken a genius to come up with. They're kind of crap, near impossible to get and not very creative either. If the devs weren't obsessed with their products having sequels and always stop there with number 2 next to it, this game wouldn't have been released and rightfully so, it makes no sense either way

I tried to highlight some of the takeaways ~ but I'd be glad if you read that all anyway

Half-Life 2

I would eventually run out of words if I ever were to describe what this game means to me. Since my first ever stumbling in, and it just so happened to be some third party mod (Return of the Resistance, I thought it was called), no game after had the same impact on me. It was magical from the start, sounds of the setting was something nothing else gaming industry wise had even remotely close to offer to it. The way the game used to douse one fortunate enough soul happened being around, and how sponge-like he would then absorb everything he was able to witness was doomed to be forever memorized on his miraclous, belief devoid mind. Which was close enough to how I felt, if it's even possible to lay down in words.

In-Game

The driving force of this legendary product is the atmosphere so masterfully put in the fully linear levels of high design. Given the genre and the style of the game, its atmosphere could rival those of STALKER or Fallout and give it a good run. To put it in perspective, it's not easy to achieve an all-consuming feel of the dooming utopia within the limitations of the landscape and its respective surroundings. No other game on my mind had achieved the same in this particular direction. The sounds is a whole other chapter of the greatness that this game had been covered with ever since it saw the light of day. One of the moments when the assestment of the product is fair and can't possibly be overrated. The minute you hear siren go off, sentry units dispatch and the scanner scan you down, truth is you're gonna be around. Add the Source with all its give or takes and you're basically set.

Killing Floor

Although this is being done mostly for the event badge, I have a heartful of love for this amazing game. Legendary title that has gathered loyal fans across the globe and kept them all in a friendly community, behind the cozy servers of those still caring. Easily the most atmospheric part of the series and likely one of the most atmospheric zombie survivals ever, quiter horrory too. The ambience and setting is unsettling and tremendous. Aged graphics still provide a bundle of fun if you're out there looking for it. Yet I need to say, the best thing about this beauty is it's community, great people through and through

In-Game

Goes hand in hand with a lobby of friends or maybe just one. A pretty challenging task of surviving up the difficulty ladder. The gameplay is consuming and requiring. Tons of achievements add a special zinch to it which might turn you into an achievement hunter soon enough. The difficulty scale rising up geometrically, sometimes taking as much as to learn various tactics on different maps just to have a chance to beat it. And what fun does it bring after you beat it...

Lucius

Hardly a chart topper in either field but this series has got something sinister in it. There aren't that many games that try to highlight how bad and wrong it is to kill people but there may be even less of those that make you feel so genuinely happy and excited after killing them. This just may be the one of them by simply how cruel and artistic the killings come to be, premeditation, security, satisfaction and the absolute best it brings. The victims are the people who had just happened to have an intent to file for a job, perhaps some even grew to like it by the time. The people with souls and good intentions who couldn't see the devil in our eyes, too much a price to realize, and so they did when time did strike.

In-Game

Playing as a little boy, the devil's son, didn't leave us perkless. Although most of the killings will have begun in someone's depraved mind, the tools could easily have found in almost everybody's household, the boy could lit up the scene. Pyrokinesis, telekinesis, mindbending are among the things that come to us as a gift after completing some obvious tasks. First it seems like a drag making those rat traps by the number, second your mind starts to wander trying to guess what the next homicide's gonna look like. All in all, the game seemed very interesting to me back then, I had it in me to unlock all the achievements which wasn't that much of a deal even for a younger me. Despite a poor man's expectations, the game has some alternatives in the walkthrough, some variety has been witnessed. For what it is or should have been, I still do like the game even today and actually recommend it. Give it a go!
