by far the most important turning point in 2000s gaming, making sure characters have more than a generic personality, so much effort was put into this, defying almost every stereotype and trope for every story element, storyline, and even character interactions. making a orwellian society not just a generic cyberpunk city, but recognizable regional architecture. this game is important to gen z, millennials, and just about everybody who experienced it.

a modern classic that reinvented the tropes it uses, personality dumped in every place, and every nook and cranny, groundbreaking technology on several levels, a determined fanbase that keeps the game alive and introduces it to the masses, even after years of the series being dormant, and the developers who care, who overcame a giant beta leak that made them re-design almost everything about the game, hard deadlines, and technical limitations. and gabe newell, who made everything happen.

9.99/10 would give 10/10 if gordon still had a ponytail
