A great single player shooter.
Good story, good level design, good gunplay, good movement.
Only small issue I had was the unstable framerate.
Although the game (and mostly the Xen section) overstayed its welcome.
The Xen section also had too many plug puzzles. You will probably not wanna replay the entire campaign because of this.

A great single player shooter.
Good gunplay, good movement, good level design, game won't overstay its welcome.
Yeah, Xen was mid, but it wasn't too long.
Btw, on the final boss, you're meant to damage the 3 crystals and then take that 1 launch pad that shoots you high enough for you to shoot abive his head.

This game is one of the best single player FPS games I ever played.
The Half-Life series in general, is a technical marvel of single player first person shooters.

The story is great, the gunplay is as solid as an FPS can be, the level design is one of the best in gaming, the game is full of great mechanics, which it introduces at a perfect pace and subtly teaches you how to use to your advantage. It's amazing how there aren't cutscenes but instead scripted sequences and how the control is almost never taken away from the player. The game also doesn't overstay it's welcome (took me 13 hours), and the enemies feel good to beat (on normal difficulty at least). An underestimated aspect of this game is it's horror element, as I will never find the new headcrabs not scary. A fun adventure where a rogue scientist attempts to save the world from an alien invasion, an outstanding piece of media that stands the test of time.
100% recommended

Early Access Review
Pros:
+Visibility is ok
+Runs on old PCs too

Cons:
-Milsim mechanics
-No minimap
-No shotguns
-Snipers and flanks are an issue
-Model clipping can reveal your position
-Camping and hyper defensive gameplay is encouraged

A very bad aspect of this game is the combination of milsim mechanics and the lack of minimap. That’s because these make the game not only hostile to casual play, but also much less accessible than it could be. Regardless of server size, you will always get spotted by someone outside your FOV, and because there’s no minimap to show you the visual information of your teammates, you will get flanked a lot. As a result, you will get killed repeatedly, and be forced to face the cycle of spawn, walk a large distance, die, repeat. And since that is mentioned, walking large distances is the second worst part of the game, and vehicles don’t make the experience better at all. Since there is no minimap, you can assume you can drop from the vehicle right outside a point, which is usually where a fight should take place, but then you open the potential to get flanked, once again, because there isn’t a minimap. This paragraph is essentially pointing out the domino effect that is caused by these 2 features combined.

The agreed upon belief of the community is that this is a casual game, but that is purely based on the fact that a team has 32-127 members (on official servers), ignoring mechanics that encourage sweating such as: slow reloading (even when you drop your mag), manual healing, manual combining of mags and overall how much your decisions matter.
After an encounter with an enemy, if you win, you would need to apply bandages, reload, heal and possibly combine mags, 2-3 decisions that take time, which isn't casual.
When people thing "casual", they think "turning your brain off" or "having music in the background", which you can't really do in this game without getting stomped, because this isn't a reaction-based game, it's a decision-based game, and it's the aspect of the game I'm most mixed about.

Also, a lot of matches become a confusing mess, especially in the middle of the map, which is something a good amount of people choose to avoid by "going around" and flanking. Normally, flanking wouldn't be an issue if this game had a more reaction-based TTK, but this game has a TTK that is as close to 0 as it can be, and as a result, you won't escape dying to a flanker (in a part of the map you assumed was safe). So, never assume you're safe, even if you're in your team's territory.

Regarding TTK: It is inconsistent as heck. Some weapons are incredibly effective, but don’t get things twisted: a Vector can kill faster than a USP, even if the USP user is more skilled and only hits headshots. So, unfortunately, you have to figure out yourself which are the best weapons and attachments. And since we learn from mistakes, it’s gonna take a lot of painstaking deaths to become decent.

In FPS games, my ideal type of combat is the close quarters one, with a fairly long TTK. In this game most encounters will be mid-long range combat, with very short TTK. Your best bet at close range is using an SMG (luckily a lot of them are effective), but you won't be able to escape getting sniped easily, which is one of the worst aspects of the game (getting killed because someone decided to camp in the edge of the map or in 500m away). Even if you are underground, there are large enough areas for this to happen, and the movement won't save you from this. What can save you is, unfortunately, building mechanics... You can build short walls and cover, it's not as bad as Fortnite, but it's a mediocre mechanic nonetheless. If this game had shotguns, they wouldn’t be very useful, but they would probably infuriate the receiver in the few times they were used successfully. This would be seen as a reason not to add them (as it is the case, I assume) but the counterpoint I bring is that: Snipers are in the game, which are by far the worst types of weapons to play against, and in case you don’t know why: Sniper outranges everything, so if you know there’s a sniper somewhere, your best bet is that he won’t manage to hit you. This seems much less avoidable than getting killed from a shotgun, especially if you consider how open the maps in this game are. The biggest obstacle players have to face in order to get comfortable with the game is dealing with snipers, and even then it can still get annoying as heck. So, yeah, sniping is by far the worst part of the game...

Overall, this game is a mess. It’s a mix of casual match settings and milsim game mechanics. If you try to play the game casually, you will get flanked, and if you try to play it competitively, you will die to something that you couldn’t do something about, because of the large player amount, regardless of map/mode. And on top of every questionable design decision, the worst one is easily the existance of sniper rifles.

--PROLOGUE--
I always wanted to experience a Batman game, which means I was very excited to play this game. However, my favourite Batman is the Dark Knight trilogy, which means that, despite the fact that I haven't played all the Arkham games, I think that Arkham Origins is probably gonna be my favourite Arkham game, since it's the most realistic one, in terms of villains at least. The most unrealistic aspect in this game is Bane, I guess. This game doesn't have villains like Clayface, Mr Freeze or a jacked up Joker, which are kind of a turn off for me. This summarises my expectations before playing this game.

--GENERAL THOUGHTS--
I have to say, this game is probably one of my favourite single-player experiences out there, not that I have a lot of them, but the fact that I tried this game and liked it all the way through says a lot! Although, when I first launched it it had the issue of not saving my graphincs settings, as well as GeForce Experience being unable to change the game's settings by itself, I eventually kinda fixed it and starting seeing what this game is all about.

--COMBAT/DIFFICULTY--
This game has combat mechanics that are easy to learn, while also offering great (optional) obstacles for those who'd like to ehance the difficulty. There are multiple kinds of enemies, and as you go through the campaign you unlock more gadgets that offer a variety of ways to take on the enemies. But, if you're simple like me, you can also just straight up punch them and chain combos just fine. Basically, when it comes to combat & difficulty, this is a game for everyone, and I can't stress enough how much this satisfies me. When a lot other games force you to press the right button at the right time, this game lets you fight the way you want, which is liberating and accessible to say the least.

--STORY--
When it comes to the story, I can easily say that the stakes get high here. This game had me at the edge of my seat from start to finish. And even after I finished the main story, I was keen to keep playing, just to beat the optional villains (one of them being kinda grindy but as I said: optional).

--CLOSING THOUGHTS--
I highly appreciate the existance of a Batman game in the gaming landscape, one that I can definetely enjoy whenever I feel like launching. Even if I never launch this game again, I'm more than fine with that, since the time I spent playing it were all enjoyable.

It's Halo, but worse, gameplay wise.
Story wise it's worth trying once, I guess.

Unfortunately, this game screams that it's a port with bad keyboard binding.
I struggled for an hour trying to figure out a way to make the game enjoyable with keyboard and mouse. I gave up at the end.

This game needs a remastered version that is more optimised for PC controls.

For comparison, in this game you have to press 3 individual inputs to climb in buildings, contrasting to Assassin's Creed 3, where you can simply sprint towards a wall and Connor will simply start climbing it with no significant effort, succesfully demonstrating how skilled he is.

-Doesn't have auto pick-up
-Has a trash mini map
-Is horribly optimized, and it came out more than 4 years ago...
-The mobile version is better when it comes to the previous 3 points

The single player is great, both story and gameplay wise. I loved following the characters’ arc and everything they went through (picked ending C obviously). In fact, I think this game is a great way, both as a piece of media and art, to create satire aimed to the world we live in. It's funny (and probably concerning) that some of the points this game makes are still relevant.

Now, as for the multiplayer:
GTA Online is one of the most unique experiences I’ve ever had. Despite the game's extra light security measures and the time consuming gameplay mechanics that may bore you, the game's charm can shine when you are doing a Job you enjoy (instead of doing it for money) or when you are goofing around with other players in Freemode.

My journey started when I decided to add a good amount of songs on the game, so that I can use Self Radio. Self Radio is basically the reason I started grinding in GTA, as well as the reason I don’t regret it. Needless to say, the real game starts when you become a CEO and/or an MC President. I reached the point where I now have a a big amount of businesses, as well as a bunch of cars of course.

The people I meet ranges from polite to toxic, just like the real world. A noteworthy negative is that the modders of GTA Online are here, on PC. However, that is just another reason as to why this game is so unique. Luckily for me (a solo player), switching sessions to avoid being a victim of modders was never an issue.

The Jobs (game modes) are hit or miss depending on what mode you decide to play. I have no problem playing races, even against people who ram others, because they woke up and chose violence. Co-operative missions though, are pain, because of the “Team lives” mechanic, which means that 1 guy can lead the entire team to a game over by dying enough times, so your enjoyment as a player can be negatively impacted from your team's performance, as well as distinctive roles for every member during a heist, which make almost all heists impossible to do without 1 or 3 friends (depending on which heist). It makes sense if you decide to play it with 3 friends, but that is a luxury many people (including me) don’t have.

Overall, GTA Online is probably the only game that made me feel happy to be a part of an open world. Other open world games are usually so open, it’s hard for me to find a purpose in the game (if it’s multiplayer) or it takes too long to get from one part of a story to another and it’s boring (if it’s single player).

P.S. I recommend changing the options as much as you can to protect your privacy.

Rockstar should (at least) add an anti-cheat and maybe dedicated servers in the game.

If you read this far, I'd like to take a moment to talk about my favourite job: Stunt races. Stunt races are races that usually happen in a flying track, usually with custom vehicles. This mode is probably why I love looking at super cars and sports cars in real life (not to a big extent, obviously). This mode is probably the definitive way to experience races in GTA, since it's probably the most easy one (& probably most populated). Part of it's charm is the variety of people you meet, and how they vary from peaceful to agressive, and even to outright trolls that stop just to block incoming racers. This is enhanced by GTA V's vehicle physics system, which are a perfect balance between an arcade racer and a realistic one. I can't stress enough about how the game is unique, just because of the vehicle physics, the race tracks, the cars available etc. which were all important to nail down, since there are only 2 ways of passing an opponent: you either have a faster car and use the slipstream or you ram him when you get the chance. With only these 2 ways of engagement and the game's physics, the perfect recipe is made. I sure know this, since I get on the edge of my seat every time I decide to sit down and race with other players. Needless to say, it's important that this game mode is populated, since this recipe can't be replicated in single player, for good or ill.
