the jush isnt there. i like the premise but the tapes and monsters ruined it for me. it could have stayed a thriller walking simulator with light puzzles that dont include moving objects through time by pausing a tape at the right times. that feels extremely cheap just to add an additional layer of interactability to your game. i would have been fine w that but however the enemies are .. um. . i guess i can say they are unfair. and stupid. have you ever had an encounter in a video game and g0tten that immediate ick? monsters were that for me mainly because you are defenseless against them. if only your only option wasnt running away, if they were somehow beatable but that would have been dumb as well, so I think they shouldnt have been in the game in the first place. dealing with them by observing your dogs body language is cute and all but minimal FOV and bad lighting makes it impossible to see your dog also dont let the screenshots fool you, random ambient light creates inconsistencies and ruins the night time ambiance.

the way it took me a month to finally sit down and write this review.. like it did for me to finish the last chapters of a VERY LONG series of chapters (16 in total each longer than an hour). I had to take a break in the last 3 chapters bc like.. the length was overwhelming lowk i like how consistent it is but maybe it is TOO consistent in the sense that it plays out always the same (both the game itself and the screenplay). There are few different sequences like space combat and such but they dont happen quite often and sadly combat gets repetitive after getting all of the upgrades which happens quite early not to mention the scarcity of upgrades or their impact on your overall firepower and gameplay. Expanded upgrades, shorter combat sequences and idk maybe 2-3 hours less dialogue and this game is golden. dgmw I LOVE the screenplay it is genuinely funny even hilarious at times its just that there are A LOT OF talking. they love to talk... I also need to talk abt the visuals I loveedd the alien planetscapes but hated how anything related to faith energy looked. Characters looked weird at times but whatever. I love the songs and the Huddle mechanic.. one of the best features in the whole game.

dont have much to say about this one. i played this first back in end of 18' and today i was like hmm let me play this againn bc i was looking for some casual fun wout worrying much about its story and i knew i wouldnt need to worry about its story bcuz its not memorable what so ever, in fact the whole trilogy is good and whatever okay but what happened exactly??
there is no big lara croft story in place and that pisses me off right now. i love all 3 games but why did i play them exactly? i dont know sh-t about lara even though she is my sis im like who tf is she.... ? only character development i can figure out is; tomb raider (2013) was about her survival instincts kicking in and becoming tomb raider, rise of the tomb raider was about resilience and shadow of the tomb raider.. i cant put quite right, she becomes negligent impulsive and i remember her losing her sh-t at one scene and killing and burning bunch of people like omg what she became ruthless? and thats the end of modern tomb raider trilogy? we need a complete reboot babes my girls need memorable scenes, world building, romance and drama. all of the 3 games are shallow as f-ck if u ask me, mediocre characters, writing, story, gameplay, puzzles exploration traverse EVERYTHING. nothing gaggy honestly but trust you will root for my girl and that is what keeps it exciting. lara is just too c-nty im sorry, which is the only thing that makes the games soooo goood lara croft is the perfect plot device. but still i dont care about the games i only love lara croft and if you like her you will like the games. not for a second playthrough though i would assume. because you know you played it and it was fun but like there is NO reason to play this again and now that i realize these games are not making justice to lara croft IP i honestly dont see any reason why i would recommend any of the games to my adult friends. you either love lara croft or you dont know her. should have played them while yall had the chance babes, too bad yall missed out on lara croft but dont come on here saying yall love her and know her like WE DO.

I figured I would write the review after my second playthrough but I want to get it out of the way. I dont necessarily wanna play it again but I found the normal puzzle difficulty too easy and I had wished it would have been challenging so I definitely want to give hard puzzles a chance. I also once saw this one guy who sketched / kept a journal of his elden ring playthrough which I wish I could do to every visually appealing media I consume, so I gave that a short try towards the end of my playthrough. I sketched a few puzzle pieces and it was honestly so much fun given the fact that I was high throughout my playthrough lol so I decided to keep a whole sketchbook dedicated to sh2 start to finish in my 2nd playthrough maybe it will be that one thing that recatalyses my interest in art.
About the game however; its great. Its exactly what people say it is, more or less.. Visual presentation / art style as is known is top grade. I wish I could compare it to its original but this remake looks amazing either way, they really nailed the fog and especially indoor lightning, every corner of this game looks pretty AF. Its also scary AF like actually horrifying the sound.. the visuals.. the monsters.. it eats away at you, makes your skin crawl. Soundtrack is unlike anything I've seen I am still amazed by the Toluca Prison soundtrack like woah.. the first time it played I gagged b-tch. and im gagging even NOW and its not just the toluca prison track, each and every one of them is so good and they are remastered so according to my og sh2 fan oomf its even better than the original.
Nothing major about its gameplay but combat is really fun, gunplay aside melee combat specifically feels like a duel, monsters have attack patterns so you learn when to combo and dodge but this doesnt make it any less dynamic and at some point what you are gonna do starts coming intuitively, this + when you are fighting different types of monsters at the same time in tight spaces create very dynamic scenarios. Speaking of tight spaces level design is okay i guess? I like how you create shortcuts as you progress through the levels so you dont really ever backtrack so thats always a plus for me. The survival horror balance is okayish I heard some people struggle with health packs and ammo I never had any problems cuz I was a beast with that pipe. but i also never felt on edge like I did in resident evil but of course thats a given as guns are the main source of beating the enemies there. Puzzles like I said I think they are easy which is a shame, I really had hoped game would force me to bring out a notepad and figure sh-t out. Story is kinda confusing so you kinda wish the puzzles were as confusing lol. Its a good story about guilt, grief, shame and repressed emotions but it is hard to follow as a first time player so you can only appreciate it after you finish it, you cant really analyze it as you are playing it.

david cage still cant write for ♥♥♥♥ but at least he was able to put out something thats actually coherent. its not very original story and characters wise but its a good take on sentient robots vs humans and surprisingly emotional but i mostly accredit that to the soundtrack. its also kinda crazy how far it branches out and i love how personal it feels but +100 more endings tea is simply not true.. and people use that to praise the game but i think the most praiseworthy part of it is the freedom of expression while you are making choices and interacting with the world. all of it just made me realize how much i miss mass effect and telltale's twd..

everybody was lying when they said this was a good game.. there is a lot to dissect but i dont wanna complain for a couple of hundred words so ima try to keep it short. i played in chronological order and i loved seeing jodie grow up, up until the ranch from there it was downhill. before the ranch it felt like i was playing her story and she was always going forward but after and during the ranch you just become a tool for others and are left stuck with awful awful gameplay and controls. I like the camera work but sometimes it works against you and it becomes tedious to control the character. I dont like how the ghosts look like what is that. I dont like the romance options and how you are stuck with that stupid ryan I rejected him multiple times and game has the audacity to still put him along the ending options F-CK THAT ♥♥♥♥♥ !! there was also no chemistry with jay f-ck him too. I decided to become a sister. and i can say for sure that was the best option i at least feel satisfied about jodie's story she grow up to be a bad ♥♥♥♥♥ she dont need no man!! i like combat sections where you need to push the stick to the direction jodie's moving to this is a lot better than heavy rain's sections where you just press buttons as you really look at the scene instead of which buttons to push and its fun to follow the flow of combat. if they had cut it a bit short i think i would have liked a lot more. i really liked the game up until the ranch i especially loved the parts where you run away and you are homeless. like i thought i would recommend it but last few hours were boring AS FCKK and it made me realize how shallow it become. I really liked my ending thoe..

its a well made game (horrible port because its impossible to play with a controller which its how its meant to be played btw though thankfully its fixable with a community control setting) but considering its kind of an interactive movie, screenplay is so ass, all shade.. characters are written sooo poorly almost to the point of none of the playable characters having substance except ethan and thats because you play a long prologue seeing how his dumbass lost his son in the mall and how his dumbass son didnt check the road before crossing it and you be like aww thats sad that he lost his son. OK... I didnt quite get why madison was so interested in all of this because she introduced herself to ethan as a photographer not as a journalist (I played in french maybe it was a localization issue) and seeing her being all shady talking to some guy on her phone giving her information and risking her life didnt make any sense. Jayden is first seen trembling and with that blue bottle but that whole plot is never fully explored? there were quite a few moments where you decide wheter or not you should take a dose but I didnt really care about it..? cause I was never told what the f-ck was happening to him? why is it so dangerous?? there are so many plot points that are not explored it made me angry low key. are we supposed to get a sequel? am i supposed to care who the f-ck these people are.. what the ♥♥♥♥ they on? what the f-ck are people on quantic dream on? its surely not something that helps with their screenplays and I really dont wanna nitpick the screenplay but trust there is material..

This is the best resident evil has ever looked, more immersive and cinematic than its predecessor, its still as tense just not as scary. There is one creepy level where you lose your weapons and it becomes a very standard horror game for like 10 minutes other than that it wasn’t scary at all. So it doesn’t really feel like a survival horror game. On top of that not only did they cut down the horror they also completely removed the sense of inventory management by removing chests and moving crafting materials to another tab, which honestly sucks because its such a huge part of the resident evil spirit. I have only been encumbered once which I could easily solve by moving items around. However it is very actiony, if RE7 was RE2 RE8 would be RE4 though the combat is nowhere detailed like RE4’s but still a major upgrade from RE7. One of the things I disliked the most about RE7 was that there were very few enemy types. That got fixed thankfully and its still not as varied like RE4 but at least you don’t only fight enemies with the same texture like in RE7. All of the boss fights were fun and different from each other even the minor boss fights were varied. Exploring the whole village was so fun and rewarding I also love that instead of finding coins for upgrades like in RE7 you hunt animal meats and bring them to duke for him to cook with and you get upgrades from the meals he cooks, that was interesting. Another thing I disliked about RE7 was its pacing and I think RE8 pacing is absolutely amazing like its too good, probably my favorite part. Insane prologue that will make you say wtf, amazing introduction to the village and the chaos state that its in, crazzyy introduction to the antagonists, chateau dimitrescu (the first big level), open world and exploration section with beneviento and moreau levels (beneviento and Moreau levels are smaller than those of lady dimitrescu and Heisenberg but as a whole with the open world its the second big level), the factory (3rd big level), Chris section and final boss are the end game. Chris’s section and the Ethan twist is sooo well made. Its the most story heavy resident evil game and they made a great job with the pacing if it wasn’t this long I probably could finish it one sitting. Ending was great too, its both satisfying and sort of a cliffhanger teaser for the upcoming installments. Shadows of rose dlc was really fun, emotional and lowkey the most scary RE has ever been featuring a great final boss fight and it makes a great job wrapping up Rose’s story and preparing it for future installments. Resident Evil franchise was already great and I think its going to get even better.

My current ranking of the franchise: REMAKE2 = REMAKE4 > RE8 > REMAKE3 > RE7 > RE0 > RE1 > others were so bad I legit skipped them but I might try out rev2 on coop splitscreeN

Its great seeing RE going back to its survival horror roots and though its far from the continuity and its aesthetics its definitely a RE game. Everything that made resident evil resident evil is back. Puzzles, thematic keys, boss fights, BOWs... they finally brought back the OG resident evil and with it, the horror. Its dark, immersive and full of suspense. As much as I love it and wish to say its perfect, its far from it. It gets off to a great start and it was fun throughout but i think it has some serious pacing issues. I think game peaked before you get to lucas's party, ammo and health is tight and you are being smart with how you play, you just beat 2 ferocious bosses and you really feel like youve been "surviving" a tough situation. After you get to lucas's party you notice the 2nd issue with the game. There are very few enemy types, bipedal mold monster is number 1, bipedal mold monster with one slightly larger arm is number 2, agile quadrupedal mold monster is number 3, and finally bipedal vomiting fat mold monster is number 4 and its sort of like a mini boss because its a rare encounter and it has a very large health pool because its fat. I was fine with fighting mold monsters when I was exploring the house because they felt like intermediary opponents and it felt like my main concern was the baker family members but that changes the moment you get to lucas's party. Lucas himself doesnt pose you a threat like jack and marguerite, you just play along to his game and his game consist of evading tripwires and killing mold monsters. There is a cool escape room section which i loved but this party section generally plays like a corridor shooter. You beat a very lackluster, shoot at the eyes type RE boss at the end and take a huge break from playing as ethan and from this point forward the game sadly parts way from its original formula and continues like it did in lucas's party. You start playing as mia and there are items literally everywhere you shoot your way through and then switch to ethan later on and you got even more ammo, a lot more than you need, parallel to this you fight a lot of monsters not worried too much about the ammo. I just wish they kept the formula the same because honestly the first and second part of the game feels very different and first part was a lot more fun and more resident evil not saying 2nd part is bad tho. That was a lot of fun as well maybe they wanted to provide the best of two worlds; survival horror RE and action RE. If they had kept the survival horror formula and had made a climactic boss fight I would have loved it more. I dont even wanna call the last fight against eveline a boss fight because it doesnt feel like a boss its more like an interactive cinematic but the only interaction is shooting while staying still. You shoot at a giant head that is right in front of you and you legit have no room to move so you are just shooting at it.... it was so anti climactic. its whatever tho, rumazing work.. im so excited to play the dlcs and RE village.

update: now that i finished the dlcs the story feels complete... wasnt expecting them to be this essential to the whole game and they were legit really fun to play

i feel so bad leaving a negative review without at least trying to play it but this looks soo ass im not even gotta bother. But I have to leave a review as Im doing a full playthrough of the series and I always try to leave a small review to record my general thoughts about a game and to indicate im done with it. Im writing these reviews only for myself anyways.. but I still like it being public so IDGAF!! sue me or dont make a game that looks this ass so i can play it instead of watching a game movie on youtube.
