-Doom 1
Very solid game nice levels throughout the whole game. Does get a little repetitive without the doom 2 enemies however. Final boss is a bit dissapointing since you have a ton of bfg shots if you are smart.
-Doom 2
Levels falter a bit on this game for me to be honest but still very good. The new demons and weapon add a lot to the game and gameplay wise this just feels like Doom 1 perfected. Boss level isnt the best I felt.
-Doom 2 Master Levels
Not the worst. Just more levels for doom 2.
-TNT Eviloution
Very average experience, had amazing new music though. Levels are just all okay some stand out though. Gameplay is just Doom 2.
-The Plutonia Experiment
Doom 2 again with nicer levels. Oh and 2 million revenants.
-No rest for the living
Nice short expansion for doom 2 with solid levels.
-Sigil
Nice change of pace since its built from doom 1 so no doom 2 stuff. Very nice hell theme. Music goes hard asf.
-Legacy of Rust
The most unique experience. Very good with 2 new weapons like 5 new demons and very big and expansive and pretty levels.

Terrible PC Optimization:
Its doom. If you cant run it you are too far gone.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
This game is old, and doesnt work right by default. You need to install community fixes for:
-Missing Files
-Widescreen
-Controller
These are easily found in the steam community guides for the game.
Summary:
What twists the mind of an ordinary human into a serial killer?
-------------------------------
What is in the game:
This game only has a single player campaign. You play as a FBI agent going to the scene of one of the many serial killers at large in this drug and crime riddled city. This game is linear survival horror game.
-------------------------------
Thoughts:
This game was pretty good. It had good atmosphere and some creepy ass levels. The only complaint is a lot of cutscene scares really fall flat. The combat feels pretty nice except for the blocking. I like the resource management. Some levels near the end can get a little fetch quest-ey. Story was interesting and kept me invested. The game was nice and short. I would say this game lacks replayability. There are collectables but as far as i know you dont get anything for them and there arent steam achievments for those who go for them. The only choice that changes the story is at the very end so you would have to replay everything. Overall reccomend for anyone who likes horror games.

Terrible PC Optimization:
Runs perfect, you shouldn't have any issues running this game.

Just on par for mid 2000's video games. However i will say the graphics are quite interesting and charming. It almost looks like a mix of SWAT 4 texturing and Doom 3 lighting.

Gameplay:

Combat is fun. Its a mostly melee game but you can pick up guns to quickly take down bigger enemies. The melee and guns are satisfying you can still use guns as melee at the cost of damaging them. You can only carry 1 weapon at a time so you have to choose wisely. Theres limited healing items so you need to be careful in combat. The levels can get fetch quest-ey near the end of the game. The game isnt very replayable.

Summary:
A demonic invasion has overwhelmed the Union Aerospace Corporation's Mars research facility. As one of only a few survivors, you must fight your way to hell and back against a horde of demons in this award-winning horror/action FPS and reimagining of the original DOOM.
-------------------------------
What is in the game:
Doom 3 on Steam is basically Doom 3 BFG renamed and gives you original Doom 3 and resurrection of evil. Doom 3 BFG contains a remastered Doom 3, Doom 3: Ressurection of Evil, and the new Doom 3: The Lost Mission. The game also contains Doom 1, Doom 2, and Doom 2: No Rest for the Living. You will also now receive the original versions of Doom 3 and Doom 3: RoE for free when buying BFG.
Doom 3 BFG:
The BFG Edition contains three games. Doom 1, 2, and 3. In Doom 3, there is a campaign with two expansion campaigns. There is multiplayer for Doom 3 as well. From the menu, you can select ports for Doom 1 and 2. The Doom 2 port also has No Rest for the Living.
Originals:
The original versions will also be in your library if you want to try them out.
-------------------------------
Thoughts:
For this review, I am talking about the BFG versions, as those are the ones I played. I will separate this into the base game and its expansions. I will just talk about the port quality for classic (er) doom.
Doom 3:
Doom 3 really doesn't feel like doom to me. It feels more like a mix of doom and half-life gameplay. The game also has a much slower pace for most of it. It tries to be a horror for the first half of the game. For me, the horror just didn't land most of the time, however. The game does get a lot more fun after the first half, and it becomes an action game. The game is overall fun. The story isn't really interesting at all; it's a basic sci-fi horror story. The gameplay was really fun for a while. But it does get a little repetitive because of the maps in the game. All of the lab maps basically feel like 20 minutes of walking through narrow hallways. Which means it has to either have one spawn in front of you or behind you. Which gets really repetitive as it spams enemies a lot. It gets fun in the big arenas, where you can use your large arsenal of weapons. Overall, I feel like Doom 3 is a pretty decent game.
Doom 3: Ressurection of Evil
RoE is a really nice expansion with a still-basic story and some fun new weapons like the gravity gun, the grabber, and the returning supershotgun. The RoE campaign also has a nice sense of progression as you get new abilities. The new enemies are a nice change of pace. Basically, just a straight-up improvement of Doom 3. The campaign has way more open levels, too.
Doom 3: Lost Mission:
Lost Mission is a little stale compared to the other two; it's like RoE with Doom 3 level design. I think if you really like the Doom 3 base game, you will also really like this short, 2-hour campaign.
All of Doom 3:
I feel like difficulty is a bit lacking; however, that might be because I played on Marine (normal). There is so much ammo that you don't feel like you need to change weapons to keep the ammo count high. I was able to just use assault rifles and shotguns pretty much the entire game. Speaking of the shotgun, it's kind of bad; its spread is ridiculous; you have to get right up in their face, and even then, it might do barely any damage. I am not reviewing multiplayer, as it's dead as hell.
Classic Doom:
This is more about the ports, as this is not a classic doom review. The ports are strange, but playable. They are pretty much identical, other than some censorship for the Red Cross. It has some other strange things, like a random SFX pitch and only a 4:3 aspect ratio. If you find this troubling, you can just get the free-source port gzdoom and use the files that come with the game. (a little more info in the side notes)
-------------------------------
Terrible PC optimization:
The game runs perfectly on max settings on my PC with dedicated graphics.
-------------------------------
Time to beat:
Doom 3 (including expansions)
17 Hours
Doom 1 and 2 (including No Rest for the Living)
14 Hours
-------------------------------
Price:
☑ Buy it full.
☐ Wait for sale
☐ Don't buy it.
☐ Free
What can I say? 3 games and 3 DLCs that can give you about 30 hours of gameplay for 10 bucks is a great deal. Plus, the original version of Doom 3 that has tons of mods to try is even sweeter of a deal.
-------------------------------
Graphics:
☐ Amazing
☐ Good
☑ Average
☐ Bad

The graphics have aged decently. It looks like an average 2005 game and is not all that colorful, with mostly grays and browns. Though monsters do have a play-dough look to them,.
-------------------------------
Gameplay:
☐ Very Fun
☑ Fun
☐ Meh
☐ Bad
☐ Awful
A fun balance of weapons and enemies can make for fun fights in arenas. However, it is repetitious when the game is trying to be horror and just constant jumpscares.
-------------------------------
Music:

I wish there was more real music like the menu, because that song is amazing. However, that is the only actual song; the rest are just ambient horror music.

Bugs:

☑ Not impactful
☐ Negatively affects gameplay
Most small things, like AI pathing in expansions, are a little wonky.

Side-Notes:
To run Play Classic Doom with the files from here, simply get the.WAD files from the game files and drop them in the gzdoom folder.

Summary:
Cry of Fear is a psychological single-player and co-op horror game set in a deserted town filled with horrific creatures and nightmarish delusions. You play as a young man desperately searching for answers in the cold Scandinavian night, finding his way through the city as he slowly descends into madness.
-------------------------------
What is in the game:
In Cry of Fear, you are in a nightmare land filled with monsters. All Simon wants to know is what is happening, but he can't get any answers. He has to fight through these monsters of the night to try and figure out what's going on and how to get back home. The game is a survival horror game where you have to manage your items and solve puzzles to get out of this place. The game has multiple endings. There is also a coop mode, but it's hard to get working because of the ancient engine, and I haven't done it.
-------------------------------
Thoughts:
I really liked this game; it starts slow but quickly gets better. Some of the puzzles are confusing, and backtracking is a little annoying. The game is a little unclear on what to do sometimes. But the story and gameplay are super good. The game is also properly scary and tense, with great scares. The enemies all feel unique and scary in their own ways. The music is also so good. The best Half-Life mod I've ever played. You really should try it!
-------------------------------
Terrible PC Optimization:
It runs perfectly with max settings on my integrated graphics system.
-------------------------------
Time to Beat:
It will probably take about 9 hours to complete the single-player campaign.

It's free! Why not pick it up?

Graphics:
☐ Amazing
☐ Good

☐ Awful
Graphically, the game isn't that impressive nowadays and just looks fine, but technically, I think this game is super impressive for looking this good on the Half Life 1 engine. Other than that, the graphics do have an atmosphere. It feels super immersive, and the textures make everything feel dirty, which really adds to the atmosphere. The lowest quality things are probably character and NPC models, but for stuff like enemies, it can add to their creepiness.
-------------------------------
Gameplay:
☐ Very Fun
☑ Fun
☐ Meh

A fun survival horror where you have to decide what you want to keep and what you want to leave behind to make space for key items.
-------------------------------
Music:

Forboding and calming tracks to fit the moments make this game's music great and help you feel immersed in this nightmare world.

Bugs:

☑ Not impactful
☐ Negatively affects gameplay
The biggest bug is that sometimes when you drop items, they will fall through the map, but this is rare.
-------------------------------
Side-Notes:
COOP is a pain to set up, so be prepared for that. The game will occasionally crash while in loading screens, so watch out for that.

Summary:
Call of Juarez is an epic adventure western themed FPS game. The player alternately assumes the roles of two distinct, antagonistic characters: a sneaking fugitive Billy and his hunter the reverend Ray.
-------------------------------
What is in the game:
In Call of Juarez, you are put in the shoes of Billy Candle, a framed kid on the run. And you play as his hunter, Reverend Ray. You will go through different parts of the west, encountering different factions of enemies. The game has a story mode and multiplayer (I've never played it; I can't comment on the quality of that). The game is a western cover shooter/stealth game. Both characters have their own gameplay style. Reverend is typical FPS gameplay; you have a few weapon slots and can pick up a decent variety of weapons. You can do some special moves to help you take out enemies. Billy is mostly stealthy but does have some FPS sections. He also has a decent amount of platforming.
-------------------------------
Thoughts:
I have mixed but overall positive feelings about this game. It's fun but annoying. The shooting is very fun, but your characters are really, really, really vulnerable. At least one has armor to deflect occasionally, but it doesn't help; you can be headshot and lose like 50 health in one shot. There are health potions, but the healing feels inconsistent. I think it heals around 50 hp. The game can also be a little confusing as to where to go at times. But the biggest annoyance for me is the platforming. The climbing animation is long and makes annoying sounds. The jumps just don't work right sometimes. And the lasso swing physics suck. The worst of it is the fall damage. You can die from a 4-foot drop at full health. You also need to save a lot because of bad checkpoints. But I overall enjoyed the game when it worked right, which was the majority of the time. Despite the poor voice acting, the story was intriguing enough to keep me hooked and wanting to finish.
-------------------------------
Terrible PC Optimization:
The game runs mostly fine on my integrated graphics system; only fps drops are in folliage-intense areas. Even then, it's not terrible.
-------------------------------
Time to Beat:
To just beat the main story, it will probably take you around 8 hours.
-------------------------------
Price:

Summary:
BioShock is a shooter unlike any other, loaded with unique weapons and tactics. Complete with an arsenal of revolvers, shotguns, and grenade launchers, players will be forced to genetically modify their DNA to become an even deadlier weapon.
-------------------------------
What is in the game:
In BioShock you go to the beautifully designed Rapture an underwater utopia. Themed around 1940s art deco you go through the run down halls of rapture fighting splicers. People addicted to splicing their own genes with adam. You get your own adam and can get plasmids. plasmids are special powers that you can combo with guns to become a killing machine. You will also have to scavenge for ammo, materials and money to survive. You can hack machines for a little reward too. The game has a story mode with 3 endings.
-------------------------------
Thoughts:
I loved this game! It's a really fun shooter. I love the plasmids and combining them with guns to do a ton of damage to enemies. The story was excellently intriguing, and I liked the way you could make choices to affect your ending. The looting system is nice, and I like the elements of scavenging for supplies. I do feel ammo is kind of scarce, and for the first half of the game, you will be relying on one or two weapons as your others will be out constantly. I liked hacking but kind of just used autohack tools near the end, as it felt unworth it to go through the harder hacking later on. The crafting system is nice, but it kind of becomes forgotten by the end. I like how you can approach the game with either stealth or loudness in most parts. The investigation kind of felt useless to me, and I forgot to use it constantly. I love the environment! It's spooky and beautiful! The music, for me, I never really noticed, but the licensed music on radios and such really set the mood. The ending and bossfights were pretty good to me. But if I had to say one big negative, it's really easy. On average, I never really struggled and died only a handful of times, and I feel like the bossfights were way too easy, and I killed them really fast. But again, that's the only negative, and I bet it's actually a bit more challenging when on hard.
-------------------------------
Terrible PC Optimization:
Runs great on my crappy machine with intergrated graphics. 60fps with settings max minus AA. It will run good for you.

Time to Beat:
BioShock will probably take you around 10 hours to beat the first time.

Bugs:

Honestly remember none.
-------------------------------
Side-Notes:
This game will make you download a launcher for BioShock Remastered, but it's pretty small and not evasive. Although if you really hate other launchers, play through the non-remastered version that will come with the purchase. Same game, just a bit worse-looking and no achievements, trading cards, etc.

Summary:
Assassin's Creed™ is the next-gen game developed by Ubisoft Montreal that redefines the action genre. While other games claim to be next-gen with impressive graphics and physics, Assassin's Creed merges technology, game design, theme and emotions into a world where you instigate chaos and become a vulnerable, yet powerful, agent of change.
-------------------------------
What is in the game:
In Assassin's Creed, you play as Desmond Miles and relive his ancestor Altaïr Ibn-LaʼAhad's memories as an assassin in 1191 AD. You get to interrogate people, climb and parkour across rooftops, silently take out enemies, and finally hunt down your target. The game has a main campaign with a great story.
-------------------------------
Thoughts:
While I overall enjoyed and do reccomend this game, there are some things that really frustrated me while playing. Im gonna start with the positives.
-Positives-
The gameplay is fun and makes you really feel like an assassin, and the progression is great. The movement and parkour are really smooth when they work. The combat is also really good when it works. It's fun to sneak-attack enemies. I like the bonuses you can unlock by doing activities like scholars to blend in and vigilantes to stop guards. The story is really good and intriguing, and the music is really immersive. The three cities all have a distinct feel and atmosphere. The modern-day parts are a nice break from the main stuff. The positives section may be shorter, but thats just because the positives are mostly story things and spoiler territory stuff, but trust me, it is worth a play.
-Negatives-
The biggest negative for me is the clunky controls and occasional unresponsive movement. The controls for the game just feel off; they are clearly meant for the console, even with the button thing on the hud being in the shape of the 4 buttons on the right of a controller. The movement, specifically when you are trying to escape guards and templars, just plain doesn't work right sometimes. You will be trying to run one way, and your guy will climb a wall next to him. This again mainly manifests in escapes. Speaking of escapes, they are really annoying to do. Guards are just really fast and constantly climb buildings in like 2 seconds, and they will see you right before you go into hiding. Speaking of guards, there are just a lot. My other big gripe is that in combat, the timing for counters and other special moves feels really inconsistent, and some moves seem just impossible to do without lightning-quick speed. Another negative I have is that it feels like a lot of missions don't let you be a good assassin and force you into combat with large groups. I also feel the missions can be kind of repetitive, at least the open-world ones. They are just saving civilians, climbing things, roof racing, killing some dudes, escorting, interrogating, or eavesdropping. But those are really the only big negatives for me.
-------------------------------
Terrible PC Optimization:
It runs great for me at max settings minus AA. It should run fine on any system better than mine, and I don't even have a real GPU.
-------------------------------
Time to Beat:
Assassin's Creed is about 15 Hours in length.
-------------------------------
Price:
☐ Buy it full
☑ Wait for sale
☐ Don't buy it
☐ Free
The game is pretty good, but for its age, semi-bugginess, and relatively short length, 20 dollars is a bit much. I'm not sure how much this goes on sale, but I'd try to get it on sale or, if you want, get it ridiculously cheap on CD key sites.
-------------------------------
Graphics:
☐ Amazing
☐ Good
☑ Average
☐ Bad
☐ Awful
This game has aged really well for 2007. While some aspects, like character models, can look really dated, mostly on random NPCs, But other than that, it's really carried by the good lighting and art style.
-------------------------------
Gameplay:
☐ Very Fun
☑* Fun
☐ Meh
☐ Bad
☐ Awful
When the game isn't just not letting you do the right thing, it's really fun and satisfying to play and use the different weapons. Parkour is fun as hell too.
-------------------------------
Grind Level:
☐ Intense
☐ A Lot
☑ Average
☐ Little
☐ Almost None
☐ None
The grinding mostly consists of synchronizing your environment for assassination missions.
-------------------------------
Music:
☐ Amazing
☑ Good
☐ Average
☐ Bad
☐ Terrible
☐ None
Really nice action music that gives the game a unique vibe.
-------------------------------
Bugs:
☐ None that ive seen
☐ Not impactful
☑ Negatively affects gameplay
The biggest bug other than some problems with movement is a freezing problem that happens where every few seconds you will get big stutters. It's pretty easy to fix, but it's annoying that it's a thing in the first place.
-------------------------------
Side-Notes:
The freezing problem fix can be found by simple google search.
