Incredibly well written story and fun gameplay should have made Immortals of Aveum a sleeper hit, but will likely relegate it to being a cult classic. While the Outlook is dire, I'd love to see another story in this setting.

A game that tries to be "BioShock, but...", and just kind of fails to stay airborn. While the premise is intriguing, the gameplay is mostly solid, and the graphics are decent. The whole thing, though, gets let down by a story that can't seem to get away from its BioShock inspirations, a reliance on first person platforming, quick time events for instant deaths, enemies that only drop resources once but can be infinitely respawned, and an insistence that you use stealth without a functional feeling stealth system. To top it all off, the ending that appears to be canonical is a cliff hanger that feels like it's intended to sell both a $10 DLC and create hype for a sequel. While the last twist is some clever writing, it feels like it should have been the big reveal at the middle of the story to set up the climactic conflict, instead of a fade to black and roll credits event.

At halfway through a second playthrough, I can heartily recommend Basldur's Gate 3. While there are a few oddities, for example combat hanging for 5-10 seconds and then abruptly resuming, none of them are enough to change the overall experience.

Everyone in my family really enjoys playing as Kitty and looks forward to the next time they get to play. It's super cute. Fom the way Kitty is animated, to the various noises for things like climbing or jumping, every session is delightful. The controls are easy enough that all of my kids are able to play and feel like they've accomplished something (pushing stuff off ledges, knocking people down, our just running around meowing).

If pressed for a complaint, the only issue that we have, other than it not picking up our PlayStation controller for the prompts, is that there's not a ton of content (probably 10-15 hours to 100%). While we're thrilled going to get much more than just once playthrough out of it, it'd be nice to have more areas and things to do.

Incredibly fun, especially with local co-op. Be warned that the question "Is there already too much fire, or can I add some more?" will come up more than you'd expect.

Incredibly fun, and holds up well to nostalgia. Extra points for a dedicated "bark" button.

The game itself was fun, the powers were interesting and varied, and it's the first time in a long while that I've had to solve puzzles with pen and paper (which is awesome). My only complaint is that the ending feels rushed and none of the endings really wrap up several central dangling plot threads.

I did end up playing on single player mode to avoid an invasion from Juliana from being a guarantee that that day was botched. There's only so many times you can get one shotted by an invisible sniper before it gets demoralizing.

Phenomenally written, plays incredibly well, and features robot dinosaurs.

While there are glimmers of a good game, it overall falls flat. The writing is pretty weak, the game was not at all stable for me, and the animations were deeply entrenched in the uncanny valley. It looked like the talking animations looked like they were made by a computer that had never seen talking.

It's a shame that the story won't continue, because of the number of dangling plot threads, but it's also a mercy.

Builds on the mechanics of Shadow of Mordor by adding small things like the ability for your minions to betray you.
