Early Access Review
Fantastic game. Great gameplay, fairly well balanced, beautiful graphics, encourages teamwork, decent maps and a fair number of them. The best AND worst part of this game are that its F2P. A bit too grindy for me. I'd like to purchase more mechs, but with the cost of upgrading using XP based credits, i don't see myself playing this game for too long. I'd be more inclined to spend money on cosmetics in these F2P games if they made more of the actual game accessable without spending money (they are free-to-play, yes?). They're certainly not helping themselves with the current grind-or-pay-to-play model they're using.

P.S. Here's a little write-up about F2P models in general, and the authors opinion of them, with specific examples given in relation to Hawken. Sums up fairly well why I dislike F2P. I have no problem paying for a game, but when you do the math with most of these free-2-play games, you realize you'd be spending hundreds of dollars on in-game currency to open up even a portion of the content, as opposed to the traditional $40-$60 (ignore the new DLC model of stealing from schmucks for what essentially the community used to be able to create for itself for free). I would LOVE to pay $40 for Hawken and get rid of the F2P scheme. It really is an amazingly fun game! ... But its dead now. :(

Maybe they should space the timing of these titles out and fit a little more content in each one. I know i won't buy another MTG game if they try to spoon feed you tiny little bits of the game and charge you by the bite for quick unlocks and "foil" conversions, while gameplay stays mostly the same as last years iteration.........oversimplified and limiting even for those who've never played the game on a table face-to-face before, let alone those of us who've dabbled in Magic most of our lives.

Open world mayhem, hijacking of military armor and helicopters, "zombie" infected, super human powers, shapeshifting, flying, wrecking-ball fists, whip-grabber arms, 3 foot long claws or massive dual-bladed fists.....you can't go wrong. How is this game not more popular? I'm sure some played it on a console, and i can't compare, but its awesome on PC. If it runs.....

The only way to buy a game from this franchise at this point......deeply on sale. Really not a bad game SP-wise, matchmaking in MP gets a bit annoying, but at times its nice to just be put in a game.
