this isn't a game, to be sure. it's just a beautiful representation of the known universe, with a little bit of procedural generation around the edges and filling in gaps in our knowledge. You can visit Earth, and any other known body. the visual style of this game, to put it mildly, is beautiful, and it is also, as far as I can tell, realistic.
Within the solar system, bodies are as realistic as they can be, using relatively decent terrain and photographic data. but, the surfaces can be a bit lacking here... this is made up for by the fact that outside of the solar system, while bodies that are known about are in the right spots, they are not yet imaged enough to make detail models of them. so, the procedural generation gets to take artistic license, and it does to great effect, from the scale of the planet wide visual appearance, down to detailed surface features, is seamless and beautiful at both ends, whether it's a red-hot rocky planet with a comet-like tail and heaps of volcanic activity on the surface under a blanket of thick toxic clouds, or an icy world, orbiting a Neptune-like planet, with just enough atmosphere to see aurora at the poles and pitted with endless impact craters of varying appearance, like old, eroded craters, or relatively fresh craters with still visible dust scatter......... idk. its mad. its very good.

a very cool lil world-builder. create a landscape and watch water gradually erode it back to nothing

A simple concept turned into a beautiful city builder. It won't hold your hand, and I'm still learning little nuances about it, but that's early access for ya. Once you get over the relatively steep learning curve you can make some of the most organic looking towns and villages I have ever seen in a city builder, and the NPCs actually seem to be "alive". The architecture is great

the content is very limited. The expansions are just "improved" Dirt Rally 1 tracks. It was a bit pricey at the time. Ya get bored of driving the same 24 tracks in a rally game - and that's kinda all this game has, 24 8-20km long stages, with their reverses, and each stage has two half length sprint versions. they say it's 144 stages but seeing as each stage takes about 10min to complete, after about 6 hours you've seen all the rally there is to see here. The variety of cars is great, if ya pay for it.

I wouldn't recommend it because Richard Burns Rally is still a thing that you can play, check out the rallysimfans mod for it.

Look, I love this game. It's an extremely versatile, well crafted city builder with excellent modding and the expansions always improve the game. but i would wait for sales before buying the xpacks as they don't provide that much, a few assets at most, many don't mesh well with eachother. the free stuff that comes with the updates for expansions is cool tho
