i went in expecting nothing and left dissapointed.

first of all, the optimization is horrible, especially considering most people who would play this are just those who want a nostalgia trip, and those people wont have pcs anywhere near the requirements for this game running UNREAL ENGINE 4 LIKE WHAT?

on top of that, it doesnt even look that nice, its just flat 3d models of the sprites, which sounds fine at first, but then you look at the poly count like what why are these so high poly who made these models?

finally, it just doesnt feel right. the reason people still play the original is just that the game is fun to play with responsive controls, thanks to the doom engine. the weapons here have minimal animation, perfect accuracy, and the movement isnt acceleration based, its just still or full speed. the enemies are tankier which i guess means they tried to make it more balanced but its just off putting at the end of the day.

if you want to play chex quest, i reccomend just playing the original in the chocolate doom sourceport. as cool as this is, the novelty wears off when you realize this was just a marketing gimmick.
