Can't choose game modes or maps, game modes are removed and added in as they please (thanks, live service "events"), no all chat, can't bind weapons to different keys, can't choose server region and netcode in general seems to be a bit ♥♥♥♥.

These were basic features like 20 years ago, what happened?

Yeah it's basically QWOP in space.

I completed the game entirely in co-op with my girlfriend. Compared to other games of this genre I felt the controls in this game were kinda hard to get used to and never felt completely right even after 100% completing the game, They just felt wrong whenever your character is upside-down.
Thankfully you can automatically rotate the camera with the press of a button but it would've been nice if you could rotate it manually in either direction to suit both players.
Maybe I just couldn't get used to it, but it felt like the controls just wouldn't work properly relative to the camera like you'd expect, though it's not really an issue on the easiest control scheme (assisted) as you can basically fly around with that setting just by pointing in the direction you want to go to.


There's 7 chapters in total, each chapter offers a different kind of gameplay experience in some way, except for the last one - which was kinda disappointingly easy and straightforward. In some way it was a refreshing change of pace, but it left us wanting more. I can't praise the other chapters enough though, there's some really awesome and fun gameplay mechanics that surprised me.

The game is short (probably around 2-5 hours for completion, but there is a few extra challenges, collectibles and achievement hunting), maybe not the best bang for your buck but I think the experience was absolutely worth the price.

So first impressions were not amazing, the game lacks proper controller support at the moment, have had some softlocks and crashes. But anyway...

The art style and characters are charming as heck, the soundtrack is amazing, and the gameplay is generally good... The combat is pretty simple but it's fun, the enemies are diverse enough and easy to read, and bosses are fun and don't take a ton of damage to kill. It feels very dark souls-ish at first, but it's more of a stylistic inspiration, as it's not really a difficult game. I wish there were more puzzles instead of combat rooms to break up the action more, and the puzzles that are there pretty much require no thought whatsoever.

I feel like the game has some pacing issues too. Throughout the game I've felt like I've explored every nook and cranny, but the game is forcing me to go through the motions in a very linear manner because I can't access this and that yet because I don't have the required power. I'm now at the end of the main story, only missing the end boss (AFAIK), and only now I've gotten my first health upgrade.

So I feel like I have a TON of backtracking to do and secrets to find, and only now that the game is close to the end, it's opened up enough to allow me to do so.

EDIT: After beating the game, there's plenty of post-game content to make backtracking more interesting.

But yeah, easy recommend, one of my favourite games of this year and well worth the money.

Only played during Free Weekend. This is more of a mixed opinion instead of an outright positive recommendation.

Only managed to play 2 game modes which is worrying, as it makes me question whether the game has enough players on it's own (or maybe those game modes just aren't any good), which makes the price tag that much harder to justify, even on sale. If it was 5-7€, it would be more reasonable.

As for my thoughts on the game. Biggest issue is map size and the amount of props. Simply too many props (especially small ones) to check and not enough time, and the less players on the server the harder it is for Hunters, and the more boring for Witches. Some maps also have a lot of verticality which again make it much easier for Witches, and harder for Hunters.
There are some good, smaller maps there though.

Witches are more fun to play as and Hunters don't really have (m)any fun abilities. Though, I feel this is the case with any Prop Hunt game I've played. Witches also seem to win like 90% of the time in this game. The chicken is an absolute must pick for Hunters as it can notify if there's a Witch in close proximity, so I felt the Witches had much more diversity ability-wise. Plus, they have many different ways to evade and confuse Hunters, so even if you get caught you have a good chance of getting away. The hunters do have skills that, for example, disable Witches from using their abilities in a small radius, but it's at the cost of losing out on a mobility skill like the grappling hook, so I felt that it's just not worth it. I honestly think Hunters should have 3 skills active to balance the game out a bit.

Hopefully the game is still actively worked on. There are some issues, but overall I had fun. Good for short bursts to play in with your partner or mates. Waiting for a better sale personally.

Fun for a couple of hours but it's just too simplistic and heavily relies on luck IMO.

The gameplay loop in a nutshell: Use food when starving, water when dehydrated, send someone out and HOPE they bring back what you need. You cannot affect this in any way.

So you might get hurt or sick due to some random event, and can't do anything about it except hope you get a medkit before the character leaves or dies.

The first 60 seconds of gathering supplies is the best part of the game despite the somewhat clunky controls. The presentation is also nice and heavily carries the whole experience.

I heard 60 parsecs, the sequel, fixes many of the issues though, so maybe give that a shot instead.

It's arguably fun with a group of friends but it's 20€ for a game that's been in early access for 3 years with barely any meaningful updates or new content.

Also I feel like a lot of the development has been focused on remaking stuff that isn't broken and ending up making it worse or just not doing anything in general that would make the game more of a finished product.

The physics are what makes the game fun, but the mechanics are not - the most effective way to play seems to smash every attack button until you knock out another player, then you have like two seconds to pick them up and throw them which usually isn't enough time. Climbing feels inconsistent.


It feels like the devs made a cool tech demo but have no idea what to do with it.
