I cannot commend this game enough. Rarely do I see games at this level, especially ones that offer this depth of not only content but overall enjoyability. For the first time in an incredibly long time is a game that legitimately makes you feel like you are in its world. From the time you open it with its amazing music reminiscient of the music from Jurassic Park to when you join a server, you're blown away, and this is truly cemented once you actually get into the game. Using a GTX 1060 I was able to run it at High settings at around 40-60fps and it looks truly amazing. Yes, the character creation is pretty, uh, "interesting", but as most of it is played in first person even the most grotesque characters are fully enjoyable. Once you spawn in to the Island or any of the other 4 maps (2 of which are free), there is a profound sense of novelty with the terrain and especially the life. The sound design is amazing especially with surround sound and it looks incredibly lifelike. Speaking as someone who was obsessed with paleontology for much of their childhood, it truly captures the sense I had at that age and fulfills the desire to run with long-extinct wildlife. The difficulty is very fleshed out and you dare not brave the swamps or mountain peaks until you're sufficiently leveled, and it's a great journey building up to the point where you can harness nature to build vast structures. The only issue I perceive is the optimization (low framerates and freezing fairly often), but as a solo developer (Studio Wildcard) it's truly astonishing what they've done. The boss battles are just as thrilling as they should be and the maps are so vast you find new areas as well as caves and Explorer Notes every day. All in all, I truly recommend this game to anyone seeking a unique experience and commend the developers for what they've done and their continued support for the game after 3+ years.
