Look, it's not a BAD game. Just not worth the price it is ($120 AUD for the standard version is insane).
I think it might be worth trying again in a year or two, once more mods have been made (and hopefully updates..).

I had to mod the game to make it playable:

Some issues I had as soon as I tried to start the game - graphics and UI.

• The game has a weird filter, which caused headaches after about 30 minutes of playing.

• Photo mode had black bars on the side if playing on an ultrawide screen.

• The UI was just all around horrible for your inventory.

• No FOV slider. (or really any more involved graphics settings to be honest).

I essentially had to use mods to make the game playable straight up (remove the filter, add ultrawide photo mode support, edited the .ini file to change the FOV, and added StarUI for a more useable UI.)

Annoyances:

• I've spent a lot of time exploring planets and building outposts, and a lot of the areas of interest on planets are essentially the same thing copy pasted. (for example, very obviously the mines are the same map). It does make the game feel very same-y after a very small amount of time.

• Story - main story so far is very generic. Most recruit-able companions seem to have the same perspective. In quests, there are a lot of NPC's who are essentially invulnerable. In one particular quest, I wanted to shoot the CEO, but nope. Apparently it was fine to kill the other party however by sabotage.. feels very limited in story options.

• Going to temples, you play the same mini-game over and over which is essentially fly to the pretty lights over and over until finally you get your new power. I feel they missed an opportunity to do something fun/different for each temple here.

• The game likes to waste your time. Whether that is cut scenes such as docking your ship that take forever, running on planets to some point of interest in the distance (which is usually some copy/paste outpost/mine/etc) or the dreaded follow a NPC that walks insanely slowly. If the things you were running to or the places you were exploring were different, I feel like there wouldn't be this dread I feel that I have to press W for a few minutes straight while watching youtube or something on a different screen.

• The game looks and feels like a last gen game. Sometimes the lighting can make a scene beautiful (mostly when exploring planets), but the majority of the time it is not. Many times when talking to NPC's, they have their back facing me. A lot of NPC's have that weird startled fish eyes thing going on as well.

•Companions seem to want to talk to you all the time, and it's something very generic that really doesn't fit the situation you are in.

• Why is the Adoring fan one of the least annoying companions to take adventuring..

I have enjoyed some parts of the game, and will finish it..just if you are trying to decide whether to buy the game, I'd say wait for a sale and for the game to get a few QOL updates, whether that is official or modded. I'm just glad I got the game for free.

Edit after 100% achievements:

My opinion still stands.

The main quest was definitely lacklustre (and if you decide to use persuade, you miss the end boss fight. I reloaded to see this content..).

Some of the faction quests were fun, except they still had SO many 'follow the npc' type parts. Within a couple hours, I took like 6 screenshots of different follow the npc part of quests.. This was in-between me randomly surveying planets as well. So a lot of wasted time waiting for npcs to hurry up, and one memorable time they got stuck and I had to reload a previous save.

Romance was pretty terrible. I hadn't talked to Sam in ages although he was my travel companion for awhile, and when I decided to chat with him, I was dating him and then ready to go to our commitment ceremony within 5 minutes. Quality build up there haha

Final thoughts:

There was some stuff I really enjoyed (such as the UC Vanguard story), but nearly the whole game I felt that I had a severe lack of freedom to make the choices that I wanted to make. So many times I would try to do something such as kill a NPC that the quest even said to kill, but they would go invulnerable because I hadn't talked to them first, then selected '[Attack]' in the conversation options.

There is also the issue that many times when trying different types of content in-game, I kept wanting to play other games that did that one specific thing better.

I don't recommend the game at this price point, but when it's cheaper I'd say it may be worth a try.

Start the game.
Spend 4 hours+ in Character Creation.
Load into game.
Hair highlights aren't perfect.
Exit and restart.

Finally get in game. Roll a dice to remove a brain. Roll a 1, and the game goes out of it's way to tell me it is a critical failure. Thank you, I got it.

Proceed further. Friends and I raid a tomb, Miss the perception checks for traps.
Everything is on fire. Our party is defeated.

I'm having fun so far!

Early Access Review
First impression so far:

You can tell this is not yet finished. It's a super cute game, and I can see it has potential - I just might wait a bit to see if they add any updates. Tentatively recommending it for people who don't mind similar games - just be warned it needs work still. See below.

Issues I see straight up:
• No native ultrawide support
• Lack of audio. You have some sound effects, however all speech is text, and there doesn't appear to be much, if any, music. The game feels pretty silent, you will need to play your own soundtrack haha
• Combat: Dodging feels weird - I tried on keyboard with the first boss. Sometimes it dodges the attack, sometimes it doesn't even though they are the same attacks/timings. Also, stun-lock - as soon as you are hit, good luck trying to get a move off with the controls. Felt like I was constantly stunned, fighting the controls in the first battle. Might feel better using a controller?

A beautiful, single-player linear experience. The story is based during the Black Death in 14th Century France, and follows Amicia and her brother Hugo. The game starts with them fleeing their Chateau from the Inquisition. The primary enemies you will encounter throughout the game will be the Inquisition and rats.

It is primarily a stealth game, however in a lot of sections you can brute force your way through with your sling if stealth isn't your thing, especially when you start to unlock more equipment and alchemy recipes.

For me personally, the stand out was the inclusion of a 'Photo Mode' - I stopped a lot throughout the game just to take screenshots.

With the nature of the game and being based during the Black Death, there are lot of dead bodies - so if that is a problem, I'd suggest that you not pick this game up. It's a great game, but does have that depressing and bleak undertone throughout.

I really enjoyed this game. I got it in a bundle and wasn't expecting much from it, but it was great! I only played the single player but it also has a local co-op option.

PROS

> Story
Game based on an Inuit Legend, collectable insights (videos) throughout the game discussing Inuit culture. Was fascinating.

> Characters
Character design was great, and even with no talking I really felt for the characters every time I managed to kill them :( The fox was adorable. The enemies also felt threatening which was good.

> Graphics
Nice style and pretty.

> Save Points
Game automatically saves, but saved at each point you passed an obstacle which was great.

CONS

> Controls
Had issues with some sections using mouse/keyboard.
Recommend controller or at least changing one of the action keys for the fox.

> Suicidal Characters
Playing single player, you rely a little bit on the other character getting places without your help. Frequently one of them managed to jump to their death/get squashed/eaten etc etc.

Overall I recommend it!
