Great game, especially for the price. I always enjoyed this series, so I would recommend all of them. This game has some fun environments and atmosphere, good music box-like puzzles, and weird story. Although I may be misremembering things, but I feel like the second one had better visuals, so I was a bit disappointed by that.

As far as the puzzles are concerned, for me, I would prefer something more challenging, but it might be the intention of the developers to have the difficulty where it is, and that's fine.

However, given the price-point, if you're into puzzle games this is an obvious series to purchase. Great for touch-screen, so steam-deck is a good fit as well.

Something else I prefer is for it to be less... fake? A number of the puzzles just don't feel grounded to me, despite it being in a more fantastical setting. I wish more rules were established and stuck to, since it often ended up feeling more like "put the square in the square hole and don't ask any questions." In other words, there were times where things just didn't seem justified, rational, or just logical in some way. Maybe nit-picky, but it took me out of it when, after clicking on something a dozen times, a tiny spindly little doo-hicky rotates around and turns it for me (like ah okay yeah sure uh-huh.) This is a minor issue, though.

Also, the ending (no spoilers) was absurdly [although optionally] tedious, and I felt like it was necessary to create such an obnoxious and time consuming process. But this was a small element (and again, optional) left to the end.

Early Access Review
Although this game is in need of polish, the overall gameplay still delivers a great experience. I don't think I've ever played a game that implements such a satisfying investigation mechanic as well as Shadows of Doubt. Not only does it manage to create a mystery with interesting, natural puzzles to solve, but it does so procedurally which means (potentially) infinite replayability. A truly perfect combination.

The road map includes providing official modding support, which is something this game needs. If Steam Workshop is provided, then the game's mechanics can be extended and customized in a way that allows for its procedural gameplay to actually be indefinite, such as new tools and systems to engage with. However, as the game currently stands, you will eventually pick up on the underlying systems, resulting in predictability and the mystery/immersion/difficulty being lost. However, you can say that about any game.

How the game falls short is, again, in its lack of polish. This is of course why it's in early access. You will find yourself clipping through geometry (falling through floors of a building, mostly), losing items you placed in cabinets, etc. These issues happen every once in a while, but it's not awful. Other jankyness includes broken CCTV systems (e.g. missing camera access rooms,) camera surveillance picking up people that aren't in the room, in-game computers not responding to input, bodies blocking doorways making it impossible to enter rooms, and sudden extreme drops in FPS due to rain (can be remedied by lowering settings, to some degree.) However, these are rarely game-breaking nor always present, but does take away from the game.

Thankfully, it seems like they are consistently pushing out updates, and I look forward to them cleaning it up and finishing what might be my favorite game of the year.

Overall, it's a great early-access game if you like crime scene investigations as a mechanic. At the time of writing this review, it provides more than enough gameplay to justify purchasing.

(Free Weekend Player - Played no Campaign or Zombies, but why isn't there a tutorial anyways??)

In summary, 3/10.
I would not recommend it to anyone that wants a quick jump-in and play, if they cannot invest enough time to get good at the game for the game to become remotely enjoyable.

And no, I do not believe you should NEED to be good at a game to simply enjoy it. I usually enjoy FPS's (no matter my skill), but in this case, nope.

There is one thing in particular that I find irritating, and that is the location of 'options' being behind 'multiplayer' rather than simply on the main menu. The Options are also somewhat unusual when it comes to it NOT being in the list along with everything else, but rather down and to the side, and how they organized the menu system; I have YET TO FIND WHERE TO DISABLE THE STUPID TOGGLE AIM! This is not rocket science people, it is a basic option.

And, of course, the multiplayer for new players, such as myself (I have not played in a while) is quite difficult to get into due to the boring learning curve:
I always get shot in the back,
player balancing in the server lobby leads to one player carrying everyone
Little feeling of progression

All and all, the multiplayer gameplay feels empty, it does not feel like you are playing with many people. I think it is due to the level design lacking any artistic/relatable feel. Of course, this is coming from someone who would not normally play the CoD series anyway.

Hope you find this useful.

You want an educating, yet entertaining experience? Kerbal Space Program is the game the surpasses your expectations for both.

It teaches you the basics to rocketry, and how orbital mechanics work, and how space travel is possible.
it obviously is not 100% accurate due to it not resembling earth's conditions, but it does an amazing job at showing you the beauty of science and how it got us to the moon.
Not to mention it’s fun to blow things up with a massive rocket, and watching a space station disintegrate in reentry!

10/10, cannot recommend this game enough.

Is this game good as a Free to play FPS? Somewhat, but the real issue lies within the fact that the devs just keep screwing it up.

Its free, but even so, don't support them by downloading it. They have broken their game many times in the past and have done so again. The FPS has been unreliable for many people, the servers suck so much that people across the board are having spazy rubber-banding issues all at once. The people that still play the game are veterans so the skill balance in the game is very biased, making it difficult for new players to get a chance in matches. The game has very little challengign weapon mechanics in it (no recoil, no aim bobbing, etc.).
At one point, the game was pretty balanced when it came to pricing; you could buy everything you needed without spending a penny, but now after this recent update everything is ludicrously expensive, and even with my double GP(currency) on, it takes forever to get anything.

There is absolutely no TEAM BALANCING, which is one of the most aggravating things about this game.
When you join a game, it is usually VERY biased, so you are either on the extremely OP side, where you have all ranked players against a bunch of new unranked players. This makes it not very fun for the losers and for the people on the winning side because they can’t even compete. What is the fix for this? Change out your dumb randomizing algorithm for one that uses the player's K/D to calculate which players should be balanced between the teams you imbeciles, it’s not rocket science.

But I love and hate this game, it has great customization ideas, a simple set up that (at one point) worked, but it’s a waste of time because there aren’t enough players, support, or balancing to the game for it be worth it. Just spend a bit of money on people that are worth your time, not waste it on these insignificant pricks.

Just don’t. It’s free, but don’t.
