I lost interest half way through mainly because of the lack of "good" skills/abilities. Everything just felt "meh".

It's a "Devil May Cry" clone with hideous characters and boring gameplay

The last patch (Nov 18th) is an affront to every avid player. Every elite enemy and endgame content was made harder, so that even lvl50 elites are not able to be soloed as a highend-gear lvl60 (max) player. At the same time loot from those enemies and reward from chest was reduced by about half.
The already very slow crafting was nerfed to take even longer with requiring more materials. Most of the items crafted before hitting maximum are still worthless throw-aways that you only crafted to increase your profession level. Which now you have to even do much more of.
Every new player or even player that didn't have everything max'ed out before the patch are now at a huge disadvantage.

There are many undocumented changes that weren't on the PTR (Public Test Realm) and many of the changes on the PTR that were bugged still made it to live without any change.

Since Amazon Games Studio has shown multiple times that their public face is more important to them than actually providing a decent game and update policy I will make this a negative review. Despite New World being a good game at is core with much potential but the last patch sucked the fun right out of it.

Updat 24.11.2021: It keeps getting better. AGS tried to compensate players for some issues. But many players got absurd amounts of money (like maximum a player can own) which completely destroyed the economy. They are now in the middle of a server rollback.

A lot like "Slay the spire". Which is a good thing.

A story-rich Tactical RPG with simple but interesting combat and a unique artstyle
(Play Banner Saga 1 and 2 first!)

A very light tactical RPG (meaning it has the bare minimum RPG elements to call it an RPG). It's key features are the (linear) story that spans over all 3 "Banner saga" games and it's graphic-style. Both are very interesting and if you don't like either, you probably won't like the game.

The decisions you make during the game have an impact to who dies/lives and therefor has moslty an impact on who you can take into combat. The main characters are unkillable and the overall story is not changed by your decisions, only minor events.

The combat is very simple at it's core but is well balanced (in terms of difficulty) so that it's simplicity doesn't make it boring.

Unfortunately this game has some bugs (unmovable units and self-reseting language-setting) that create a bit of frustration. These bugs are known and in the game for years, but the developer refuses to patch it.
