I really wanted to like this game. I really did. The idea of sitting in a broadcast booth, shaping the narrative that determines the outcome of perception is such a great mechanic for storytelling. But sadly the story itself is so fascicle it borders on insulting. What tries to be a commentary on the a dystopian future vis a vis 1984, ends up being a ham-fisted Alex Jones-esque fever dream of "Woke politics run amok".

Your choices are to side with the bumbling but somehow simultaneously sinister antagonist political party, or to side with the wealthy autocratic protagonist society defrocked of their money and power. Both options are however portrayed as the "fallacy" of equality, the "oppression" of the wealthy, and the "indulgence" of the liberal arts.

But these all pale in comparison to the cardinal sin of gaming: It's just not a "fun" game. There's a few laughs here and there, but it's just too busy focusing on the dangers of collective bargaining (political action, teamwork, compromise) to be enjoyable. The overall feel of the game is one very long sermon on the Calvinist ideal that the wealthy deserve their place, the marginalized and downtrodden deserve their place, and any attempt to change that will result in apocalypse and misery for all.

Whatever one's political sentiments may be, this game certainly doesn't do justice to well representing them or the effect media has on influencing them. Instead it offers a paranoid, demeaning attempt at delivering a poorly contrived "message" of individualistic supremacy for it's story, mediocre game play mechanics, annoying and unrelated mini-game gimmicks, and an overall boring experience at best, and downright insulting experience at worst.

quickly turned into jogging simulator. At the start of chapter 3, it even makes fun of itself throwing disconnected random info at you making the player feel lost. after 50 hours trying to like it, i just cant bring myself to finish it. It suffers from telling, instead of showing narratively. And the level design seems to think that the more steps involved between A and B means its a good time, which it's not. So much potential wasted.

This was a great little jaunt into Lovecraft and one of the very few examples of cosmic horror expressed in game that is done correctly.
The only thing i would change is a hidden easter egg of the yellow sign somewhere for those who dare to look for it.

This game is amazing. Expected something relaxing and monotonous like a hunting or crafting game, but got sucked into the mystery pretty quick and couldn't stop playing. This game is light on complex gameplay mechanics, or elaborate customizability. In fact, if it were any more bare-bones, it would be a visual novel. Rarely do you get a situation where less is more, but in this case, it really is more. This is more like a psychological suspense game than a classic adventure game. Each progression in the mystery felt like a monumental weight added to the scale of impact of choice. Even your dialogue options felt extremely significant, which is what most games should have but almost always fall short. While playing a second time through the game has a lot less appeal (as you already know the answer to the mystery), the fact that it makes you want to replay it almost immediately is really telling. This game does so much right as long as you recognize that its not trying to be other games. If you're looking for a hack and slash, or hunting game, then this game falls flat. It doesn't even have an equip option. But if you're looking for a great mystery that will keep you on the edge of your seat and leave you there for hours, then this game delivers like few others ever have.
