call me an idiot or whatever but i cant even get the tractor at the start of the game to go foward. i got it started already but after reading a guide it just wont go foward or backwards even if i select the range or gear to go foward / reverse.

♥♥♥♥♥♥ FOV that cannot be changed and also the screen shakes around too much when you're walking and running or doing anything. its hard to play this game without getting a headache or motion sickness and it distracts me from the actual storyline of the game.

other than the ♥♥♥♥♥♥ FOV mention, the melee combat feels boring and this game is not really what i expected it to be.

Can't say i'd recommend this game in its current state.

- its very bare bones (duh)

- not enough variety of building objects and trains

- you can only place one train down, can we maybe get an option to place multiple trains down and let them all run free at the same time in the future?

- object deco placement is very limited and doesnt have any disable snap to grid option for object placement (yes i know this game is still early access)

- terrain objects interfere with the placement of tracks, which means i cant really place any of it down. can the terrain objects be made to not interfere with the placement of other objects so its easier to build terrain please?

Overall, its an okay game but i'd say just wait till theres more content added to the game. i can definetely see potential in this game for the future but right now there just isnt really enough to be toying around with in this train sandbox. you cant even derail the trains :(
also the map border is kind of a bit small for a sandbox game, im not sure if anyone else has an issue with the map being too small tbh but i think it should get an extension(?) maybe even have an option to modify how big the map can be when creating a new island?

also it'd be great if there was a color grading settings and a day / night cycle sorta thing, the game's color grading pallete is a bit too bright and it makes looking at some objects an eye strain.

If i wanted to play fallout 4, I'd go into my game library and play it.
I wouldn't be launching metro exodus to be playing literally the same exact game, minus the base building from fallout 4.

Im only in the first three hours of the game as i am typing this, but three hours shouldn't take this long for a game to get good. I came from metro last light to play this game since it was a continuation off of it, and to be honest, im a bit disappointed.

the characters changed a lot, Anna isn't even the same Anna from the last game (she acts super OBLIVIOUS), Artyom cant even run for more than 15 seconds without getting winded, and Miller doesn't even LOOK like himself too, maybe thats just because hes old asf but whatever.

also, notice how this game's title says "metro" in it.
THIS GAME DOESN'T EVEN TAKE PLACE IN A ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ METRO?? ITS ALL OUTDOORS.
SO FAR I HAVEN'T SEEN ONE METRO AND I'VE BEEN RUNNING AROUND LIKE AN ERRAND BOY COLLECTING PEOPLE AND JUNK.

- the game has you run around to places ON FOOT to grab things, and then bring them back to a location or person, (kinda like in fallout),

- the ammo system is dumb asf, it has you collecting two main ingredients: chemicals and scrap metal to craft your ammo.
^ now YES you can "loot" your enemies for said ammo, but its such a small amount that you could honestly just care less. <-- (kinda like fallout, except in fallout you actually can find a decent amount of ammo from looting your enemies)

- (not too much of a problem) the graphics. the graphics are too vibrant and colorful for a metro game. its supposed to be a dark grimy and cold environment this game takes place in. NOT whatever this is.

don't get me wrong, the graphics are a huge step forward,
but for a metro game to have these bright and vibrant colors it just doesn't feel or look like metro at all comparing to the last games.

- (more of a iffy thing) the UI looks bland and it looks like as if a college student made a demo for a game and had used placeholder UI for everything. all the UI in this game is actually a disgrace to everything else i had been complaining about in this review.
its been oversimplified and it no longer slows down time when you are trying to switch to a different utility or weapon, and just in general looks super ugly.
did i already mention how ugly the UI looks? if so, i forgot to mention that the UI for the chemicals and scrap metal indicator looks ugly too.

- last thing to mention is the enemies. the enemies are all one shot in the head or torso with just a DB ashot (gun), and are litterally nothing more than just a nuisance, especially the zombies.
(kinda NOT like fallout, atleast the zombies in fallout are somewhat a threat)


I'll keep on forcing myself to play this till the end and update my review after i get to the end of the game to see if this game changes my mind.

1. Combat is scuffed, and is distasteful; Some zombie types are either just too basic, or just too overpowered and can only be killed with things like pipe bombs, which makes melee combat feel useless

2. Story is seriously in need of rework still even after months of continuous updates, like in the intro, the main character you play as would just be talking to a dude that's so far away and its just kinda weird.

3. Opening the inventory lag bombs the absolute ♥♥♥♥ out of your game for whatever reason, idk maybe the game's inventory code's logic is to be ran on a repeated loop rather than a simple button press but I wouldn't know. Also closing the inventory speeds up the game 3x for like 3 seconds, which HAS gotten me killed multiple times.

4. There isn't any instructions on how to play the survival game mode. I wandered around with the quest i got from a cop at the spawn to loot a house nearby, but there were people living inside of it and when I tried looting the house to complete the quest, they started shooting me and I couldn't enter back in to finish looting the house. I tried shooting them with a shotgun but they wouldn't be damaged at all by it.

5. not enough ambience music ingame, it's too quiet and like theres really only probably one soundtrack in this game which is like some disco music that plays during chapter 1 around the part where it makes you extinguish a fire.

your average COD campaign but with subnautica's prawn suit with a mega cannon arm.

also the campaign is only abt 4-5 hours which is pretty lame. but the gameplay was pretty fine imo
