Great game, both in SP and PvP, altough GTA Online has become quite the freak fest and explosive circus. Still very entertaing if you create a private lobby or just focus on doing the online activities.

In a moment in gaming history where most games aim for mindless replayability with zero meaning other than "to kill time" and online-only features (sometimes even in single player!"), filled with worthless microtransactions and whatnot, comes Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice to remind everyone that games can be more than just a fun time and deliver an amazing experience with a message, and this game's message rivals (even surpasses) many other big installments'.

The way the game delivers the story is very enjoyable. It's not a story that right away reveals the motivations and backstory of the character. This is a "self-discovery journey" for Senua AND the player, which makes connecting with her easy without feeling like it was forced. You WILL suffer, cry, be desperate, scared, hopeless, but also enjoy with her the moments of melancholy, determination and beauty, thanks to the amazing acting done by Melina Juergens as Senua both in VO and Mo Cap performance (she has my vote as best female performer for this year's many game awards guaranteed).

Definitely a must-play with headphones, since the effect of the binaural dialogues will become greater and will "drive you crazy" as intended by Senua's psychosis. That and the amazing work by the audio department + the amazing soundtrack are more enjoyable with headphones on.

But let's not ignore the work done by the rest of Ninja Theory's team. The artistic direction and level design are really good too. The writing is superb, and the fact that the team didn't take the cheap route and said "yah, she sees things and stuff because she's schizophrenic" but did actual research on the subject and respectfully portrayed it in the game is what makes this experience so delightful. You don't question or think about how weird everything that's happening around Senua is. You just accept this is her version of reality.

But all praise done, let's be fair: this was conceived as a "mid-sized game", and it certainly is. Re-playability is low and the combat mechanics, while entertaing, can feel a little simplistic at first. It does get better as you progress, but not by a great amount (Boss Fights are on a very different league though). Still, I would love a "horde mode" to be implemented. Another thing I see a lot of people complain about is that there is a lot of "walking simulation" in this, and that is also correct, but from my point of view, having this game be all "action packed combat" would not only make it monotonous, it would defeat the sense of progress in the journey Senua takes by removing the quiet and peacefully moments during this "walking simulation" parts that heavily contrast the harsh moments she goes through. You would not believe she's emotionally suffering if all you see is a girl hack n' slashing all the time. Still, if you're not into "walking simulators" this game will probably bore you. You must come to this game for the whole experience itself, not just the gameplay and/or the looks.

This is a game that has become one of my all time favorites.

"The hardest battles are fought in the mind" <- A quote from the game. This applies not only to Senua, but to all of us. By the end of the game, you will realize that there is nothing wrong with the way Senua sees things.

PS: By all means, check the Hellblade Feature included in the game after finishing it. Beautifully done.

THIS is how you do DLC. It's no just a simple re-skin of the old map with some random mission thrown at you... no wait... it is... partially... THEN HOW THE HECK IS THIS STILL AWESOME?

Believe it or not, this DLC is a true love story in more than one way. Not only a "love story" for the characters involved in it, but one from RWS to their creation and to gaming in general. This DLC is the pinnacle of examples on how a great game will always be great despite the many "innovative" practices in the industry nowadays. Make an awesome video game and people will like it, no matter the graphics, the engine or how old it is. If the game has a soul, it will be amazing no matter what.

The DLC has a substantial amount of content, all of it to the same standards as in the vanilla Postal 2 + AW, and sometimes it even surpasses itself. Hell it's a whole new campaign. Any other dev would have sold it as a separate game altogether.

New awesome weapons, new awesome abilities, exploration and exploitation of the map IS rewarded with hidden stuff or Easter Eggs, and it has fully enjoyable boss battles that will make you sweat. Hell that last level is one of the most awesome experiences in gaming I've ever had. No QTE BS or wait for an opening things. Shoot it until it dies, but at the same time try not to die in the process.

Also, the creative way in which it connects to POSTAL III and makes amends of it thorough the whole DLC was a brilliant way of solving that issue. Believe it or not, I wish to see more of this link between POSTAL 2 and 3 in the future.

RWS: I will definitely buy "POSTAL: The sequel's sequel" on day one, whenever you release it.

Ignore my current play-time on Steam. I've already finished the game twice before getting it through Steam, plus Steam sometimes doesn't track my time for some reason. Also, be prepared for a kinda lengthy review (at least considered lengthy for your average Steam review) and spoiler-free.

This game is a hidden gem. Despite it's many flaws (simplistic AI, kind of linear levels and minor gameplay bugs that don't happen as often as other people claim), the parts that make this game shine are so well done that it surpasses many other acclaimed Action RPGs out there. The story and the characters REALLY react to what you've done and said to them. I won't spoil any of them, but these character interactions work so well with the many plot twists that happen in the story thanks to those relationships you build, either positive or negative.

The second act (which composes the vast majority of the game) is divided in other sub-arcs which are at the same time divided in many missions [WE NEED TO GO DEEPER]. The order in which you play that second act is entirely up to you and the order in which you pick the missions can affect in a way the rest of the missions in the same sub-arc and even in the other ones, so re-playability value is high as there are many combinations in the order you can play the missions.

Choices. Many games give you a binary system of choices of good and bad. Alpha Protocol not only offers you more than two choices in many instances, but more can open up depending on the amount of Intel you've gathered. And even the actions in-mission can carry consequences, so not all the choices are done only during dialogues. Man, every time I google about Alpha Protocol or watch some youtube videos of it, I find a new thing about its story. I really have no idea of how many ending world states there are anymore.

As for gameplay, this is one of the things people tend to complain the most and often they are as right as they are wrong. Movement can feel a little "floaty" for some, but that can be adjusted with some tweaks to the .ini files (still the fact that it has to be a manual fix is kind of an issue, but nothing extraordinary and most importantly, it can be fixed). Using the weapons is considered "hard" or "unsatisfactory" for many, but I personally think they match with an RPG game (which, in case you didn't read the subtitle of the game, Alpha Protocol is). You have to steady your aim before taking a shot, and that can be improved spending ability points in you character in the relevant areas, and still, even after you maxed out a weapon's stats, using it is not a walk in the park, but it definitely is easier to use. So people complaining about weapons are missing the point of the system that reigns their use and just want a mindless bang-bang experience. AI-wise, as I mentioned earlier, is kind of simplistic (they follow a fixed path until they see you or something catches their eye), but the way in which the AI enemies are distributed through the levels compensates for that simplification. Playing with a stealth build and succeeding at not raising alarms or not even getting into a firefight sure is the build that brings the most satisfaction. Gear customization is not as thorough as other RPGs, but it is extensive enough to have a variety of options to choose from. The same can be said about the main character's customization.

In the audio department, music is good enough, great even (that main theme sure will make you pump adrenaline, plus a certain boss fight will have you tapping the floor with your feet at the same rhythm as the music). As for audio effects, the same can be said. Not bad, not excellent, but descent enough. Voice acting is great, never being over the top despite having some characters that are.

Graphically, the same can be said as with the audio. Not bad at all, but if you're a "graphics w***e", this is definitely not for you.

In conclusion, this Role-playing game succeeds at... well... letting you play a role in the story, so viscerally that a second playthrough is guaranteed to give you almost as many surprises as your first one. Despite the gameplay, audio and graphics not being at the same level as the story -and the depth at which you can manipulate it-, they're not lackluster at all and in fact get heavily compensated by a truly player-guided story.

It's such a shame that a second installment of this game is not very likely (though Obsidian has said before they would like to, but SEGA owns the rights, so is up to SEGA to say yes, and that's very unlikely). At least a spiritual successor would be great.

Personal score: 8/10

This doesn't need an extensive review at all.

Even to this day, Skyrim is still a great game that remains relevant, mostly thanks to the modding community. That and because you are more than likely to explore, and explore and explore, forgetting there is a main quest at times. It will take you A LOT of time to see everything the land of Skyrim has to offer (you might actually never end exploring all of it, unless you totally go for it).

I had 122 hours put into this game at the time I wrote this review and still haven't finished the main quest and I also have a lot of uncharted areas on the map.

I got Gary Coleman's autograph, used a cat as a silencer, assaulted a store with bouncing scissors, escaped a firefight in a church, robbed some donuts after decapitating the clerk, peed on a cop until he puked, then sliced him in half with a scythe, discovered a nasty bathroom with poop everywhere, saved a marching band from a suicide bomber and then killed every member of it myself, gathered signatures for a petition in order for the congressmen to actually know what videogames are, and brought down a terrorist group. All in the same day.

Or you can just do the objectives without starting a killing spree and still beat the game.

While this is obviously not the classic format for a Halo game, it still retains the soul of Halo. You can board enemy vehicles, you have only 2 weapons at a time, and can switch them to other weapons you find in the battlefield.

Enemies behave just like in the FPS games: Kill an elite and the grunts that were following him will flee sometimes. Or if you stuck the elite with a plasma grenade, he will charge at you to try to take you with him.

Also, most of the weapons, vehicles and enemies sound like you'd expect them to. Except for the drones; for some reason, they sound like the engineers from ODST and Reach. And the soundtrack does have the Halo feel (and some great tracks!)

Gameplay-wise, it does represent a challenge but nothing overwhelming. Only by activating skulls you will get that challenge that the vanilla gameplay does not bring.

Another important aspect worth mentioning is that the missions are too short. You will spend at most 5 minutes on a mission. But at least they are varied so you don't feel like you're doing the same thing over and over again.

Conclusion: The game is enterteaing. Lining up your shots and saving ammo is still a thing. And if you're a Halo fan, you'll apreciate the care the developers put into making it feel like Halo.

Even minimizing it for the cards feels like a waste.

I played a bit of it. You get bibles by shooting asteroids while a giant flying winged mouth spins. It has that much sense.
