DLC Practices

I feel it's important to first address the DLC practices on this game before reviewing the game content. It's been a high point of contention throughout most of CA's games. I tend to have one main factor when deciding on whether I feel the DLC is extortionate or not and that is the following question. "Is the base game worth the base price?" in the case of Rome II i felt that the base game was not worth the base price, so I felt the DLC was unfair, as the base game needed to be fixed urgently. In the case of Warhammer on the other hand I feel that the base game has a reasonable amount of content for the base price. Each faction feels extremely unique, so there is a huge amount of playtime available in just the base game. On terms of the worth of each individual expansion pack, that is another matter. Generally speaking I feel the faction packs are worth the price, a full playthrough of a new faction adds a lot of game time and the rosters have been generally decent. The lord packs are cheaper and they're my favourite as for less money I can have an entirely new playthrough of a vanilla faction with new units. The blood and gore pack conversely, i felt was unessesary and not very consumer friendly.

Content Review

In terms of gameplay, if the total war francise is your thing, I believe you'll be extremely happy, (massive bonus if you enjoy the warhammer universe) Breaking away from other total war games, Warhammer brings unique factions to the board that mechanically function extremely differently, the factions are reasonably balanced and the rosters are generally extensive. The grand campaign map is well designed and has a plethora of objectives and enviroments. Overall Warhammer provides an imerssive experience. The AI does cheat however, and this can get somewhat irritating as the rules they play by is not always obvious, but this does not affect gameplay too much. Overall I feel that if you know you enjoy this genre of game, it's one of CA's best to date and you should not hesitate to give it a go. If you know you don't like these types of games I'm not entirely sure why you'd be considering picking it up.

It's tough to give a free to play game a negative review, but I think it's appropiate here. The description advertises a branching story lines, but the choices are merely an illusion.

Sure, what you choose to say does affect lines of text you recieve, but the actual overarching story will always remain the same.

I found at one point emily asks to come down and no matter which option you pick she ends up angry at you.

If you pick "Come down" she gets mad at you for taking advantage of her vulnerability and planning out a devious hook up even though she says "I wish you kissed me, hey can I come round yours?"

If you pick "Come down as friends" she gets mad at you for not making a move and says you ruined their perfect moment to get together

If you pick "Don't come down" she just gets mad

I just found that frustrating and I was hoping for some change in the story, also brad is a tosser

On top of that the main character just types ♥♥♥♥ I never wanted him to type,

Pros
It's free
Irritating friend simulator
I like the old pc sounds

Cons
Emily
No meaningful branching story as advertised
No unfriend button for emily implemented
Protagonist types things you didn't want him to type

I'd say it's a meh game, but swings into the thumbs down for me.

This game is ♥♥♥♥ing horrible.
Everyone on it is an ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and the dress up minigame is p2w
If I wanted to be constantly arguing with morons I would join a debating society

However there's no debating society nearby so I sunk 3000+ hours of my life into this game

Play it only if you have no feelings and you don't want to play any other games for the next 5 years.
