Despite being an ambitious game, Assassin's Creed Odyssey often feels bloated. While the vast, open-world is beautiful, it can feel repetitive and is filled with unnecessary quests that drag down the experience. The RPG mechanics, a fresh idea, sometimes take away from the Assassin's Creed experience, making it feel more like an open-world checklist simulator. That said, the story is engaging and the historical setting is captivating, especially for fans of Ancient Greece. If you have the patience for the grind, there's still fun to be had

Honestly, once the general gameplay loop loses its shine the game is just really boring. A lot of quests end really suddenly and feel unsatisfying, and the ending feels like the entire story just fizzles out. Kassandra is pretty great though.

This game lends itself to the apex of what I believe is the antithesis of Assassins Creed. Unfortunately so influenced by the other loot-based RPGs of the time, this is truly an enjoyable combat system and a major downgrade.
In fact, playing this game for just 10 hours I resolved to buy and play through Black Flag on the PS4, which is by far a superior assassins creed experience, story, gameplay, and feature wise.
