I put too much time into this game back in the day, but I moved on when the bots became an issue.
It's sad to see that after all these years, Valve still haven't addressed the issue.

Solid Metroidvania.
There is nothing to stand out about the gamer, but it is worth playing if you like the genre.
The health system did bother me to start with, but throughout the time spent with the game, it was easy to adapt to.

My old review from beta still covers most of the issues I have with this game, but somehow they have made it even worse.

The game is now too slow; most games drop to desync, and the camera is too zoomed in. broken or no input buffer where random moves you never inputted go off.

Sadly, this time, I don't see that bright of a future for this game.

Old review from Beta
As the game is now, I can not recommend it. However, this game has a lot of potential to be great down the line with many unique and memorable characters that interact with each other.

But right now, there are too many glaring issues that need addressing, such as poor server quality with many games lagging and characters teleporting around the place.

Right now, the hitboxes are very wonky where sometimes you hit someone that isn't even in your attack or the other way around where you clearly have hit someone, but nothing happens.
There is no priority system for the attacks leading to many confusing situations on who should have come out on top. But this issue could be fixed as there is work being done on it.

The game balance is also a bit off, and some moves feel arbitrary if they have super armour or cooldowns on them.

Matchmaking is also a bit of a problem where you can get games that clearly have three players with some experience and one that only just started.
This leads to the team with the beginner player losing very fast most of the time while the other player is trying to babysit.

And one of the most significant issues with the game right now is the monetization, everything is just that bit too expensive, and a single skin can cost more than many games.
Also, many cheaper items cost a little bit more than the lowest currency price, meaning you have to spend that bit more just to get them.
If items were cheaper, I would probably spend more money on the game.

In saying all of this, the core game loop can be fun, and I can see a bright future for the game if many of the issues get fixed; I hope that Player First Games all the best with the game.

Would love to actually play this but there is no Vive Cosmos controller support, so couldn't even start the game.

NieR:Automata is one of those rare gems of a games, it continuously subverts the expected leaving you questioning what will happen next.
Don’t be fooled when you see the credits roll as 2Bs story is only the beginning,
The final chapters to the game take a drastic change in tone with some event leaving a powerful impact on the story

The Pc Port has some issues and the game play inst as polished in some places, but that hardly impacts on the overall experience

TLDR: Get this game! Its good

Such a good game. I don't think I've had such a fun time with a game in years.
The game is just brimming with personality.

All I can say is, get this game.

A great mix of the classics of the NES.
From Megaman to Ducktails
Mario 3 to Zelda 2
with a dash of Wizards and warriors and Ninja gaiden.

Well worth it.

Such a unique and refreshing game.
Powerful story without a single bit of dialogue.

Well worth it!
