Edit: Paid mods? What the hell were they thinking? How about making a decent game instead of wasting developer hours on this scam?

A somewhat disappointing sequel to Fallout 3 and New Vegas. This game was a hard choice between a "Yes" or "No" recommendation, but I feel the bad outweighed the good. I do not regret the purchase, but I would not recommend this game to anyone.

First, the good:
- As a first person shooter, this game is far superior to any previous Fallout game.
- The sheer size of the world and amount of interesting places in it is absurd. You can't walk 10 yards in this game without finding something interesting.
- The main story line is fairly interesting.

And the bad:
- As a roleplaying game, it is a huge step backwards from any previous Bethesda game. The character advancement is so watered down that it basically shouldn't even exist. To even be able to use your settlement properly, your character needs 6 Charisma. To be able to even kill enemies, your character needs 5 Perks in one of three choices (Pistols, Automatics, or Melee). Half of the available perks are so useless they shouldn't exist, and the other half are so good that they are required.
- Your character is not yours. The new dialog system is entirely pointless. The four choices your character can say are "Yes", "Sarcastic Yes", "Yes (but later)", and "More info". Every single option leads to exactly the same response, maybe with one new line interjected in between. There is no way to be evil in this game, in fact there are really no moral choices at all, ever. Regardless of what your character does, the ending is always exactly the same. While the voice acting is a nice idea, without any choices it really takes away from the roleplaying aspect.
- The settlement system seems like a good idea at first. You'll want to build a big cool settlement with awesome defenses to hold off the waves of super mutants that the game will surely throw at you, right? Except those attacks never come. By building defenses, you lower the chances of being attacked. And even if you do manage to get attacked, it will be 4 or 5 mutants that you could easily solo. The entire system feels rushed, bolted on at the end, and ultimately pointless.
- The radiant quest system that they blatantly copied from Skyrim is just as annoying in this game as it was in Skyrim. These quests serve absolutely no purpose in the game. They don't change the world in any way, they don't change the way any NPCs interact with you, and they're not even fun after the first two times.
