Early Access Review
Ok. This is a surprise! WarTales is one of the best games that I've ever played and amazingly, it's still in Early Access. I love the non-fantasy realistic gritty atmosphere.

In it's current state, the game is already very fleshed out (I was expecting more of a demo, but instead found myself pulled in to a fully fleshed out world that is deeper than many fully released titles).... so the fact that this is only Early Access makes this incredible! I'm as excited to see how the game develops, as much as I am to play it.

Is the game worth playing in its current EA state? Yes.
I'd recommend playing the newly introduced "Restricted Regions" game mode. It's basically the same game, except the enemies don't scale up with each new recruit and armour piece you buy... which is where some of the negative feedback was coming from the other reviewers. This game mode addresses the complaints by making it more like Dark Souls in that the first region (where your journey begins) is balanced to your starting level, but you can still travel to other regions (offering more difficulty) by your own free choice, when you feel ready. This gives you a sense that your party is growing and becoming more powerful, which you would never experience (in the other game mode) if the enemy constantly scales with you.

Note: WarTales is still in Early Access, so both game modes are subject to future rebalancing.
I'd also like to see more customisation options, such as painting our own armour and perhaps giving us a selection of customisable banners to choose from.

Interested in trying new things?
Then download (what you think you know about) yourself in to this hilarious game and give the new virtual you a try.

The game is a work of art that doesn't take itself too seriously; so have a sense of humour when you play it or it will play you instead... in which case you might find it educational.

And remember. Cool people don't care what others think about them. So, if you're living in fear of what people might think of you; it means you're also living in fear to think for yourself, as yourself.
Have fun!

HLL offers a tighter experience than most FPS games on the market. A good balance of action and realism... like "Project Reality" meets "Heroes and Generals" without the clunkiness of ARMA and there's ZERO Pay to Win nonsense. I spent thousands of hours in those other games, but not in steam.

There's a huge benefit to playing in squads and the community is friendly to new players. You'll need to take your time (no Rambo) because one bullet can kill you. Medics can revive you, but not from a headshot.

HLL also doesn't have K/D... you can still see your own kill/death ratio as personal (private) stats during the round, but the game encourages teamplay, so medics and support classes will be rewarded just as much as the teammates pulling the trigger.

If you don't have friends that play the game, you will make new friends in HLL ...and ideally (like most games of this nature), you'll have a microphone which will further enrich your experience.
