The mechanics and world are great and fun to explore. However the game lacks a lore or an overlying story, therefore quickly losing any goals or a sense of direction. Also combat with the growing party size gives me a feel of 60s board games as it takes forever for things to happen when every turn literally requires 30 different actions from 10 characters and the same from at least as many enemies.

I've just conquered Calradia in Bannerlords for the first time so I am still very much in the mood for something Medieval. Unfortunately Manor Lords seems to be quite unfinished (it is early access after all) so I chose this game.

Have to say I'm not disappointed. I've just cleared the first area and have a pretty neat little troop going now.

Combat is your average turn-based system which isn't too taxing or convoluted and is quite satisfying. You can build up valour points by being in certain circumstances (such as killing someone, being next to an enemy/ally at the end of the turn etc.) for all your special skills which are vital to winning the battle.

The world map so far seems quite huge, I've only done the first Kingdom and it's taken me around 20 hours as I like to 100% explore as much as I can before moving on.

Questwise there's plenty to do and as you're a group of mercenaries you probably get the idea. Go and kill stuff, help people, escort people etc. Each area has it's own main questline to complete as well.

One thing I like the most about the game is the amount of skills/knowledge/professions etc. the game has to offer. Not only do your characters have their main skill like a fighter or archer but they also have their own professions. You can make someone a miner, fisherman or woodcutter just to name a few. As well as all this there are loads of things you can learn, like recipes for food, weapon/armour blueprints, camp equipment and much more. All of which aids in keeping your party alive, equipped, fed and happy.

Overall I think the game is great and well rounded and I am glad i purchased it.
