Ion Fury is the best prequel to a game you will (probably) never play.

Yeah it's good - great even. A seamless evolution of the classic Build Engine formula, sorta like Duke 3D and Half Life's bastard child.

If I had to nitpick (and I will), I'd say the mouse implementation is not very good. Just feels kinda floaty - likely due to the fact that this was built on an older version of eduke32. Much like Duke 3D 20th Anniversay World Tour, turning off v-sync in your graphics' card control panel alliviates the issue somewhat, but it's not perfect.

Anyway, 8/10 - would go after the bald-headed ♥♥♥♥♥ again.

You can tell you're in for some ♥♥♥♥ when you have to have to pull up a walkthrough to find the last caged child outta 4. On the first level.

Definitely not as great as the first Turok, but this remaster is actually even better than that game's - both in terms of redesigned levels and overall presentation. A definite recomendation if you can stomatch some pointless backtracking and a fair bit of "where do I go"itis.

Basically Duke 3D, but better (and somehow even more culturally insensitive).

This port is pretty alright as well, although I wasn't a fan of the mouse implementation - it just feels off, even after fixing the weird ass scaling (see here[www.pcgamingwiki.com]). Ended up sticking with good ol' BuildGDX[m210.duke4.net] and Raze[raze.zdoom.org], which both feel way smoother.

Anyway, great times. Definitely check it out if you're a fan of unrelenting murder by grenade launcher and/or ♥♥♥♥ jokes. RIP John Galt.

Thumbs up for Duke 3D, huge thumbs down for this port:

✖ True 3D mode looks bad and runs like ass.
✖ The only alternative is the classic renderer, which has god-awful vertical distortion.
✖ Massive mouse acceleration.
✖ New Duke talk sounds weird.
✖ The new playback feature could've been cool, but it has a bug which - I ♥♥♥♥ you not - kills you at random unless you turn it off.
✖ No Duke it Out in D.C, no Duke Caribbean, no Nuclear Winter.
✖ Gearbox removed Megaton Edition from Steam, which had all of those.
✖ I mean, Gearbox in general.

It's actually shocking how bad this is, given that it is built on Eduke32. On paper, it even looks like they tried to do something cool here: the new episode is great, and the Half-Life 2 style developer commentary was a neat touch.

My advice? Get this cheap on a sale and play it to your heart's content on an actually good source port - I strongly recommend Rednukem[lerppu.net] for a vanilla-accurate experience, while Build GDX[m210.duke4.net] and Raze[raze.zdoom.org] will both run the new episode.

Half-Life 2 meets F.E.A.R meets Time Splitters meets general Breadman goodness.

Entropy: Zero was cool in its own right, but 2 is just on another level. To say that this is a professional product is an understatement. This is legit one of the best shooters I've played these last few years and I feel FILTHY getting this for free.

It's Splinter Cell but you play as Moon Knight and can ban people to the shadowrealm with your homies.

Pretty fun overall if you can get past that unmistakable indie Unity jank™. Sorta wish you had better mobility options and got your upgrades earlier though - early game can feel kinda miserable. Also ngl, the concept of a vengeful spirit who can teleport all around but is somehow unable to JUMP is pretty funny to me.

Anyway give it a try if you're even remotely interested in the genre. This usually goes for dirt cheap on sales.

God I miss stealth games. Pour one out for the devs.

Low-budget Mario 64 for babies plus SpongeBob memes. But like, in a wholesome, endearing way.

Yea, never played the OG back in the day, so I wasn't really in the 2020 manchild hype train. Also ngl, always thought this whole 3D look was kinda cursed. Still, there's so much care and attention put into this it's really hard not to love it if you grew up with the show.

...Now if they remade that one Fairly Odd Parents PS2 game, I'd ♥♥♥♥ my pants.

Ah yes, Crysis 2. Still got my old Xbox 360 copy, which ran at like, sub 20 FPS (thanks for that btw Crytek).

My take hasn't really changed: game tries so hard to convince you that it's a AAA release it's almost cute. It eases you in with jaw-dropping (2011) visuals and then straight up sucker punches you with the jankiest combat you've seen. Can't really hold a candle to the original Crysis if I'm being honest, but it's fun in its own janky "I wanna be Cowadooty" right.

This remaster tho, *chef's kiss*. SVOGI completely changes the look of the levels, and the ray-tracing game is on point. Kinda bummed they didn't implement multiplayer, but eh, it was nothing special anyway I guess.

A nice middle-ground between Crysis 1 and Crysis 2. Not as engaging as the former, but not as "meh" as the latter. The remaster here was definitely more subtle than in Crysis 2, but I guess that's to be expected, as Crysis 3 was already a much better looking game overall.

...Also, the nano suit now makes the royalty-free Cyrax sound effect from Mortal Kombat 3 and that Scooby-Doo PS1 game every time you cloak. I don't know why they did this, but I really, really appreciate it.
