This is the first entry of this kind on my own profile page. It serves as an information to others as well as a memento for myself.
Somebody removed me today on Steam as a friend, which came out of nowhere for me. Adding to that, that person even blocked me, preventing me from reaching out to clear up any misunderstandings.
I can only assume that this was because of our last conversation and what I said there, which I considered a really benign exchange about a topic related to gaming culture.
There was no reply to my latest messages and no goodbye. I was just ghosted, seemingly undeserving of any closure.
While this in itself is unnerving, I'm also put in a really awkward position of having fairly recently accepted a game as a gift from that person. Even originally, I was rather hesitant to accept it, not knowing the person for very long and having something gifted being a first for me, but now I don't know how to play the game carefree.
I was always hesitant to form friendships online and on Steam in particular and this experience only shows me that my worries weren't unwarranted.
In case the person who removed me reads this: I'm sorry if I failed you in some ways, that wasn't my intention. I suspect you have hardships in your life as well and I wish you the best. But if you ever want to talk again, I'm always open for it.
To anybody else reading this: If you remove somebody from your life, please have the courtesy to tell the other party the reason for it.
Also comments are generally off on my reviews because they tend to be either:
Zero-content trolling
People complaining that I played too many/too few hours to be allowed my opinions
The only replies I consider to be particularly noteworthy are dev replies, which they can make even if I turn comments off. Though my experience is that about half of those are also just bad attempts at brushing off valid critique.
If you want to talk more about my very correct opinions, you're welcome to Friend me.
Now I like anime very much as I discovered there's wholesome, funny and lighthearted stuff, like Nichijou, which I find a lot of comfort in.
Now I still don't like too much nudity in my games but I can somewhat tolerate it if its not in sexualized context. But if people like it, it's their business. To each their own.
Although I think it was a relevant question as many VNs include some form of sexual content and this type of content gives me discomfort. Though I would have probably asked and responded in a much more mature manner had I made the thread today compared to back then.
It's not related to Kojima though.
The last DLC was released in 2019 so this game is in essence in maintenance mode. The only thing keeping it "alive" is crossplay with consoles because the players numbers on PC are very low.
Mercury Steam is a great developer, with the release of Metroid Dread they have proven that they can do amazing work but “Spacelord” can be written off as a failed project.
Annoying stuff like that happened a lot to me while playing, quests were very vague, some couldn't be completed until you learned certain spells from Professor Ursula, and you couldn't learn new spells until you completed this long complicated riga-maroll quest which involved getting her to stop teaching you the mending spell for the 50th time by exploiting the "Day Resets after 24 hours" feature this game has. Which literally would require you to have the day reset 3-4 times in a row and be at 3 different locations 3 times in a row, in order to get her to try to teach you a different spell instead.
Even after all these years the game still looks very good to me. Too bad Sega can't be bothered. I sent them an email about it too (referring to my own and many other threads/topics/comments about the issue), but I didn't even get a reply.
Bummer. Glad you enjoyed it!
