Part 1 of 2

This is the first entry of this kind on my own profile page. It serves as an information to others as well as a memento for myself.

Somebody removed me today on Steam as a friend, which came out of nowhere for me. Adding to that, that person even blocked me, preventing me from reaching out to clear up any misunderstandings.

I can only assume that this was because of our last conversation and what I said there, which I considered a really benign exchange about a topic related to gaming culture.

There was no reply to my latest messages and no goodbye. I was just ghosted, seemingly undeserving of any closure.

While this in itself is unnerving, I'm also put in a really awkward position of having fairly recently accepted a game as a gift from that person. Even originally, I was rather hesitant to accept it, not knowing the person for very long and having something gifted being a first for me, but now I don't know how to play the game carefree.

Part 2 of 2

I was always hesitant to form friendships online and on Steam in particular and this experience only shows me that my worries weren't unwarranted.

In case the person who removed me reads this: I'm sorry if I failed you in some ways, that wasn't my intention. I suspect you have hardships in your life as well and I wish you the best. But if you ever want to talk again, I'm always open for it.

To anybody else reading this: If you remove somebody from your life, please have the courtesy to tell the other party the reason for it.

The problem with detailing the online/offline modes is that the game DOESN'T TELL YOU ANYTHING ABOUT THEM, after immediately forcing you into Online mode as soon as you boot it up. It insists there are big differences but says nothing about what they are that I could easily find.

Also comments are generally off on my reviews because they tend to be either:

Zero-content trolling
People complaining that I played too many/too few hours to be allowed my opinions

The only replies I consider to be particularly noteworthy are dev replies, which they can make even if I turn comments off. Though my experience is that about half of those are also just bad attempts at brushing off valid critique.

If you want to talk more about my very correct opinions, you're welcome to Friend me.

I commented on your Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm review. I don't mean this in a derogatory or patronizing way, but being snarky isn't a solution for your problems and only poisons your mind. I hope you'll eventually see things in a more positive way.

I'm not sure why you would quote my comment from someone else's profile. Obviously I didn't review that game, as I don't even have it in my library.

I wasn't aware that there was enough backlash for them to course-correct. Good to know that GOG is DRM-free after all. But I won't give CD PROJEKT ever the benefit of the doubt anymore. Since they went public before the release of Cyberpunk 2077, their new overall course makes sense.
LAUGHiNG ⁧⁧PAiN 26 Sep, 2023 @ 10:55am
"They even put an always-online game, Hitman, on GOG without any warning on its store page". To be fair, they removed it soon enough after the customer's backlash. Maybe they didn't even know it's not adhering to the No DRM policy, but i can't argue about anything else on CDPR in you comment.

Basically I used to be extremely anti-weeb, anti-anime or very much anti-sexuality nearly to the point I was a damn keyboard warrior about it.

Now I like anime very much as I discovered there's wholesome, funny and lighthearted stuff, like Nichijou, which I find a lot of comfort in.

Now I still don't like too much nudity in my games but I can somewhat tolerate it if its not in sexualized context. But if people like it, it's their business. To each their own.

Although I think it was a relevant question as many VNs include some form of sexual content and this type of content gives me discomfort. Though I would have probably asked and responded in a much more mature manner had I made the thread today compared to back then.

Dude your story sounds very similar to mine. Unassailable spiritual evolution derailed by cynical family members. Fact is, if your close family is still 'in the matrix' so to speak, they are unconsciously trained to keep you in the matrix too. Not an overt conspiracy against you, I guess it's just modern society's in built self-policing mechanism. I have learned to keep my spirituality to myself. "Keep your brilliance veiled among the masses" or words to that effect are found in the Book of Changes. Try not to be too disheartened by your family. This is a very normal obstacle on the spiritual path, and if anything it's a sign of significant progress.

For what I can tell, apart from the name change (When I wrote that review the game was called "Raiders of The Broken Planet" ) They have added more mission and a few more characters, The progression system to level up your character and get weapon blueprints is as sluggish and grind focused as ever and the DLC available is overpriced, $35 to buy a new character and weapon blueprint, and even then some people who have bought these DLC packs have reported that they did not get the blueprint drop.

The last DLC was released in 2019 so this game is in essence in maintenance mode. The only thing keeping it "alive" is crossplay with consoles because the players numbers on PC are very low.

Mercury Steam is a great developer, with the release of Metroid Dread they have proven that they can do amazing work but “Spacelord” can be written off as a failed project.

I agree with you on Sinking Island. It's a precautionary tale about how important it is to have the various working parts of a game, accommodate each other in order for the game to be a good experience.

hi i've enabled comments since, i really didn't realise they were even disabled. no i never finished LWA, i think i covered pretty much all i can think of in the review to be honest, The game just isn't that entertaining to me, i find it stretched out and the humor wasn't even that good either. i had issues even handing in quests where i would hand in the incorrect quest.
Spooky Akko (4k TF2) 7 Oct, 2020 @ 3:05pm
Jasminka was the most cursed. Sometimes you needed her help, otherwise you would give her a candy which in LWA - candies are actually VERY valuable and you need to keep them to boost your character or barter. Half the time i would speak to jasminka looking for help and she would auto-take a candy instead.

Annoying stuff like that happened a lot to me while playing, quests were very vague, some couldn't be completed until you learned certain spells from Professor Ursula, and you couldn't learn new spells until you completed this long complicated riga-maroll quest which involved getting her to stop teaching you the mending spell for the 50th time by exploiting the "Day Resets after 24 hours" feature this game has. Which literally would require you to have the day reset 3-4 times in a row and be at 3 different locations 3 times in a row, in order to get her to try to teach you a different spell instead.

You know, it took me some time to muster the courage, but I opened up them comments. You were the only one to ask, yet it triggered a certain chain of thoughts in my mind. Gotta be more democratic and such.

Hy. I've read your comment. I wrote "walkthrough" in my review, but perhaps I use the wrong word. When I got stuck I googled "Bloodbones solution" and clicked on the first result that showed up. It should be a written guide on green background, a bit bare-bones, but has all the info needed, and seems mostly accurate.

Hi there and thanks for your suggestion! While I don't really mind playing some type of games on a controller, like hack & slashers and fighters, I just don't find it very comfortable nor satisfying to play a game that heavily relies on shooting and aiming on a controller.

Even after all these years the game still looks very good to me. Too bad Sega can't be bothered. I sent them an email about it too (referring to my own and many other threads/topics/comments about the issue), but I didn't even get a reply.

Bummer. Glad you enjoyed it!

The name of the author of the manga that you are asking about in that review of the title Gunwings is Frayfeather. It is indeed Chinese.
