Lore
Any game can have a good story. It's easy to tell one story directly to a player by walking them through it via a sequence of tasks or events. It's not easy to tell the main story, while also having tens or even hundreds of stories alongside it, that explore different parts of the game's world, society, or otherwise. It's not easy to use environmental storytelling effectively, telling a tale just through the state of a location. It's not easy to set up a complicated, well thought-out universe, which explains even the smallest of details to make the pieces fit and the overarching story come together. This, in my opinion, is what makes a game great.

Open-World
I enjoy the ability to explore a vast landscape that takes days or even weeks to explore, and even after all that time, not finding everything. Perhaps a game where you can approach a situation in several ways, even ways the developers hadn't intended. Games such as Fallout 3, New Vegas, and 4, Subnautica, Breath of the Wild, and so on.

RPG Elements
Leveling up, upgrading items, collecting weapons and such. These are things I love in games. I love customizable characters, weapons, and so on, so cosmetics are a must-have for me. I don't think it was a good idea to start paying TF2 for this reason, but it's a little late now to have regrets.

Romance and Romantic Clichés
I love this stuff. I adore lovey-dovey stuff; anybody who's known me a while would know this. I love when two characters are watching a movie, and both reach into the popcorn bucket at the same time to grab a handful, then get all flustered when they touch hands. I love when the world falls away and leaves only the pair, gazing into each others' eyes. I love two characters absolutely despising each other at first, then over the course of the story they slowly warm up to each other, then eventually one says to the other those three beautiful words.
